Re: [Elecraft] K4 whining
Make me an echo of the previous sentiments in this thread. I laid out a full advance deposit shortly after the K4 was announced & there was an ordering ability offered. I chose a fully loaded K4D and am on the request/waiting list for a HD add-on when that is later made available. To me, it's boorish to complain Elecraft hasn't started shipping the K4 out yet, fulfilling orders. Nobody wants the K4 actively shipping more than Elecraft, it's their livelihoods and for us, it is our hobby: Food & shelter trumps fun every day. The whining is childish and makes no sense. You'd think anyone savvy enough to generate the disposable income to buy a K4 would also be savvy enough to know why such whining is useless. Too much QRM. 73, Gary KA1J Looking forward to my K4D on my table, when it's ready. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

[Elecraft] Transceiver transmitted composite noise measurements
Some people see no problem in taking a good neighbor and turning it into a bad one. I'm referring to the TS-590, which performs quite will in this regard, being degraded by adding a cheap TCXO. I'm guilty of going the cheap TCXO route but I got rid of them when I saw the test data. Same here.when the radio arrives I know it’ll be great and ready to go. What is the obsession with weekly updates? I want them sorting out the radios not wasting time on a bunch of emails etc. In the meantime get outside and turn on your radio and get on the air. The bands are coming back to life. Also be aware that some of the’pot stirrers’ on this subject don’t even have one on order. Hard to fathom frankly. [Elecraft] Transceiver transmitted composite noise measurements
Rob Sherwood NC0B agreed to freely share his transmitted composite noise measurements (dBc/Hz). Rob's measurements are limited to only those transceivers he has access to. Bob has always offered top measure the performance of any transceiver, but of course he needs access for testing. Transmitted composite noise is only an issue in your immediate local area -- such as interference to other hams within several miles if you'd like to retain their friendship -- or to co-located transceivers in your own station for SO2R, multi-op or Field Day. Transmitted noise can be controlled by transmitter bandpass filters to reduce noise into transceivers operating on other bands but a bandpass filter can't reduce noise radiated into a transceiver operating in the same band such as a CW and SSB transceiver in the same band during Field Day. Composite transmitted noise is significantly worse for some transceivers when their output power is reduced to drive a modern amplifier. Rob shared his data -- see below -- for all of transceivers he has tested for transmitted c omposite noise at 30 watts output. Transmitted noise from some transceivers is much worse at reduced output power than others, most notably the IC-7300. K3S transmitted noise with 30 watts output power is increased by 9 dB at 10 kHz from the transmitter frequency, but noise power 100 kHz from the transmitting frequency is degraded only 3 dB, the minimum degradation one would ever expect. [Elecraft] KPA1500 with a Yaesu FTdx101D
I’m trying to get the KPA1500 utility to work with my Windows 10 PC and my Yaesu FTdx101D. I have downloaded the FTDI driver, run setup, and received a message saying the driver is on my PC. Re: [Elecraft] Product Availability Was: Re: QSO Today Expo - Estimated K4 related shipping schedule
Barry Flex is actually shipping radios today. The world wide sales have been so strong that they have not been able to keep up to the demand but those timelines are getting much shorter every week. The website has the current delivery delays for each product. Much of the electronics industry has been impacted by two significant fires in Japan related to two electronics houses. The challenges come from the fact that, while there are optional parts you can use it requires retooling to use those parts as they’re not the same physical sizes or functionality. However, companies like Flex stock pile parts when possible. Pre-Covid delivery times for parts were measured in 2 to 4 weeks. Now they’re measured in months and sometimes up to a year. You can’t ship a radio, or anything unless it is 100% complete. Sometimes it’s only a small part that holds up an entire finished product. Imagine ordering your new TV only to find out that the F connecter on the back of the television wasn’t available or there was no remote to turn it on and off. Regardless of who your vendor of choice is, hams need to support them and purchase product. Keep that in mind to help keep the amateur economy strong. If you do not support them, it’s hard to pay employees and it’s hard for their employees to put their kids through school. It all comes around. 73 > On Mar 31, 2021, at 4:36 PM, Barry Baines via Elecraft > wrote: > > Mike: > >> On Mar 31, 2021, at 1:15 PM, W0MU Mike Fatchett wrote: >> >> The point of all of this is why is Elecraft not on this list telling us >> these things like they used to? >> >> I hear lots of excuses.
