Re: [Elecraft] Elecraft Digest, Vol 210, Issue 5
One of the first clues to look for in regard to the audio level out of the computer being low is the PTT LED on the Signalink USB does not illuminate on transmit command from the software. A second thing is to check the CODEC to see that the correct one is chosen. If one has the PTT LED illuminating on the Signalink USB, you have the correct audio level and correct CODEC chosen from the computer. 73 Bob, K4TAX On 10/7/2021 4:05 PM, elecraft-requ...@mailman.qth.net wrote: Message: 17 Date: Thu, 7 Oct 2021 10:40:56 -0400 From: Carter Craigie To: Elecraft List Members Cc: Kay Craigie Subject: [Elecraft] K2 + WSJT transmit problem solved Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Thanks for the helpful suggestions about why my K2 would not go into transmit via my Signalink and various digital programs. Hi Andy, No, not with the beta, that is untested at this point. I need to move the new software into the KAT then test again... And the K2 responds to commands from the computer, such as changing frequencies and such. The Signalink is a brain dead external sound card that generates PTT based on the presence of audio output (built-in VOX). If you get no transmit LED, the audio output is not high enough to trigger the internal VOX circuits. Check the TX level (and output device) in your digital software (WSJTX, DigiPan, DM780, etc.). You will likely find that the audio endpoints have changed due to an application and/or Windows update. First step in trouble shooting is *always* to do a Windows *RESTART* (not shutdown, power off or reboot - but *RESTART*) in order to force Windows to load all drivers fresh from disk rather than used cached versions. 73, ... Re: [Elecraft] KAT500 beta 2.04
Given we are talking about Beta software, I think I have located another issue with the KAT500... If I use any sort of fast turn around transmit/receive cycle software, like VARA, under Winlink, or ARQ type software modem, the tuner tries to re-tune every time a most transmit cycles, even with a good SWR on the antenna. My antenna has 1.5:1, and if in bypass all works fine. If in MAN, the tuner goes into a tune cycle... Which faults the KPA500. Any suggestions? I do not have a computer connected to the KAT500, but could connect one if needed. 73, and thanks, Dave (NK7Z) https://www.nk7z.net ARRL Volunteer Examiner ARRL Technical Specialist, RFI ARRL Asst. All the above are fixed in beta 2.04. There are also changes in full tune implementation that make is less likely that TX power foldback will result in early termination with a poor match. FCCS, FCMD, MTM and MTA commands which did not work as documented have been replaced by FDT. (See command reference for details) For anyone using CAT control, the biggest change is that the CAT provided TX frequency takes priority over the counter frequency and counter will no longer cause a re-tune at start of, or during, TX.
