[Elecraft] WANTED - P3 Panadaptor

2023-01-12 Thread Steve Ireland

G’day

I am interested in purchasing an Elecraft P3, in very good condition. It would
be nice if it came with a modulation monitor, SVGA and associated cables but is
not vital.
Apparently only a few P3 were sold in Australia. After searching here for a
year or so, I am taking my search global. 

For those in the US, note I have a US address to which the P3 can be sent!
Payment can be done via PayPal or direct transfer.

You can check me out at qrz.com.

Thank you!

[Elecraft] K4 and K4D Backlog wait significantly reduced

2023-01-12 Thread Eric Swartz
We've been working hard to get the K4 & K4D backlog down and I'm now
pleased to announce that it has been reduced significantly. Whew!

We are now contacting customers that ordered in late Dec and early January
that their orders will be ready to ship in the next 10-20 business days.

Please contact sa...@elecraft.com or give us a call (831-763-4211)if you
ordered your K4 any time before the end of 2022 and have not heard from us.
We'll get your order back into the now very short queue. It's always
possible we have an old email address for you or that our emails were
missed or sent to your spam folder when originally sent.

Thanks again for your incredible patience as we've worked through the K4
and K4D backlog. We're working now on getting the K4HD radio and K4/K4D
to K4HD upgrade options parts sourced and then into production and out
later this year.

[Elecraft] Elecraft excellent service

2023-01-12 Thread David Hachadorian
One of my K3's failed during the RTTY Roundup - no RX, no TX.  I sent an
email to Elecraft support, and Doug replied the next day, starting a
series of e-mail exchanges.  Doug concluded that the Synthesizer Board
was likely the source of the problem.  I had an old KSYN3 Synthesizer
Board lying around, and used it to replace the KSYN3A in the radio.  The
problem was solved.   Doug says turnaround time to repair the KSYN3A
shouldn't be too bad.

To me, this company demonstrates the knowledge, ability, and motivation
required to get stuff done effectively.

[Elecraft] Elecraft Price increase Alert

2023-01-12 Thread Eric Swartz
This is an early price increase alert for our list readers:

We will be increasing prices across all of our product lines at the end of
this month, on Jan. 31st.
Our on-line order forms will update with the new pricing at that time.

As we all have seen on the news and felt personally, inflation pressures
have pushed up prices for everyone over the past year. In our case the
costs for electronic components, sheet metal, displays etc. have all
increased significantly. And of course, our assembly and labor costs have
gone up. We've been absorbing all of these cost increases to date, but we
are now at the point where we must increase prices in order to keep our
products profitable and to provide you with the great products and service
you expect.

All orders placed with us -prior- to the increase date of January 31st will
be charged at the lower current pricing, even if they ship after the price
increase date.
Please order soon, as that will avoid the usual last minute crush of
orders.

Lastly, please resist the urge to call or email our sales/support team
about which products will be changing price or how much the changes will
be, as they do not have this information. (We're still in the middle of
reviewing all of our cost changes.)

I apologize for the increase - We'll strive to keep the price changes as
reasonable as possible.

73,
Eric WA6HHQ

Is your K2 one with a PA Key out? If so, just an RCA cable and a coax
jumper.

Re: [Elecraft] Elecraft 80M SSB Net Report

2023-01-12 Thread Dave New, N8SBE

Karl,

Sorry we missed you. 80M on a short vertical can be challenging, since
the efficiency is so low, the ERP will only be a small fraction of the
power applied to the antenna.

If you can find any way to get a wire in the air, the longer the better.
 It doesn't have to be full-size 1/2 wave for 80M (130 ft). I use a
ZS6BKW in an inverted vee configuration with the center up about 35 feet
on a telescoping mast which is bracketed to the back of the house. The
wires when viewed from the top are only about 90 degrees apart, with one
leg going SE and the going SW, tied off to the corners of the back yard
of my small city corner lot. The ZS6BKW is about 100 ft long, but when
the legs are sloped down from the center point, it doesn't need all of
that almost 50 feet in each direction. The ZS6BKW is fed with about 30
ft. of window line, which then transitions to 50-ohm coax without a
balun. It's recommended to use about 75 ft. of coax to the transmitter
at that point, and then you can use a tuner at the transmitter to make
the transmitter happy. I use this antenna mainly on 80M and 40M, having
a 2 el. quad for 20M-6M.

Yes, the SWR on the coax is somewhat high, but despite what a lot of
folks will tell you, you really don't lose a lot of power in that piece
of coax at 3.8 MHz. The result is that I get a respectable signal out
on 80M with that setup, running barefoot 100W with my K3s, or in summer
conditions on 80M with a lot of summer static, my KPA500 helps to make
myself heard over the QRN.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

Hi gang.

I could hear Bill in NH and then later Steve in GA and finally Merv on
Cape Cod , all 5/9s but unable to work the net with 100W on my KPA100
and KX3 portable with vertical low band coil Buddipole with SWR at
1.4

I'm 30 miles from the NE coast of NC so probably can hear FL as well.

Ugh, this lack of a good antenna like a dipole is killing me. Not sure
an EFHW or OCF will cut it either on TX. I wonder if I should just
spring for a KPA1500, but I don't think that is comparable with KX3. At
cross purposes using a portable QRP rig with a blaster. I can put any
hideous vertical in the parking lot, but 90 feet x 60 feet not big
enough for wires.

Re: [Elecraft] KPA1500 and K2

2023-01-12 Thread Fred Jensen
Beware of VGA cables and the K2, most [maybe all] are not
straight-through. The connector on the K2 has 2 pins approximating
RS-232 signal levels and 1 ground.  The remainder are internal signals
at internal voltages.

Running solid state amps at seriously reduced drive levels can reduce
their linearity and increase unwanted signal products.  Don't know about
the KPA1500 but might be wise to check.

DO NOT CONNECT THE K2 SERIAL OUTPUT TO ANYTHING WITHOUT A CUSTOM CABLE OR
AN N6TV SERIAL BOX.

I got about 250w out of the KPA1500 with my K2/10, and of course full-tilt
disco boogie with my K2/100.

[Elecraft] KPA500 Won’t Tune

2023-01-12 Thread Jim Ruff via Elecraft
I’m running a K3,KPA500,KAT500 into a 10-80 meter OCFD at ~ 50 ft.  It will
tune 40M great but fault on all other bands.  This is not a new problem, but
has been going on for a few years. Any ideas what could be causing this?  I’m
following the instructions in the tuner manual.
Thanks,Jim W7JHR

[Elecraft] AMP-HR Display

2023-01-12 Thread Skip Kazmarek
I finally got my KX2, which is my first-ever Elecraft! Which means I'm both
excited and inept! (How's that for a combination?) My first stumbling block
is this: I can't get the display to show amp-hours since the last reset. All
it shows is .**. If I hit reset, it flashes 0.0 for a moment, and then
goes back to *.**. All of the other display items work fine, and it
cycles through them as expected. I'm sure there's a setting somewhere, but I
can't seem to find it.

Sorry if this is obvious (or if the answer is RTFM), but thanks for any
help. After I get menu at a new system of menu logic, maybe I can return the
favor someday.
