[Elecraft] Building an older K2
Hello all, It's been years since I did any serious kit building, and I've been looking for a good winter project for a while now. So, when I found an unbuilt K2, KPA100, and KAT100-1 as part of an estate sale, I jumped on it. Are there any potential pitfalls I should be aware of, or is there anything I should be concerned about when assembling a 15-year old kit? All the boxes have 2002 purchase dates noted on them. The K2 is SN 3172, so I know it has the Rev "B" RF board. Re: [Elecraft] K3 w/ straight key
Hi Jim, I don't know that you would have to turn off the keyer, per se. Just plug in the straight key to the key jack and leave your paddles plugged in to the paddle jack. Then, either would work. 73 Joe, N1QD On Wed, Jun 24, 2015 at 11:54 AM, Jim Hoge knowk...@verizon.net wrote: I have always used my K3 with paddles but today wanted to play with a straight key and a sideswiper. Perhaps it is just sleep deprivation preventing me from this but please how do I do this? Re: [Elecraft] Another K3-SignaLink question
Ed, See page 20 of the K3 manual, in the Line Out setting. You can set the Line Out level in Config, or it can be set to =PHONES, which is what it sounds like you have it set to. 73, Joe, N1QD On Thu, Mar 27, 2014 at 3:09 PM, Edward F. I have very similar symptoms in my K3/100 (SN 5284) that I assembled in March. It makes the sound even if I am in TX test mode. Again, no performance issues, just a slightly bothersome squeal / whine. One thing I noticed immediately was that I was hearing a very high pitched squeal coming from either the PA board or possibly the KIO3 (the board the amp plugs into). The squeal seems to vary in frequency each time the transmitter keys up (can only hear it when the radio is in TX). The squeal is not very loud but its loud enough for me to hear it if I listen closely. It doesn't seem to be power related. The squeal is there even if the radio is in TX but no power going out (RF Pwr set to 0W). The closest thing I can compare the sound to is perhaps a tiny leak in an air hose. Is this typical of a bad solder joint or something? This squeal only pertains to the new KPA100 installation. Before the amp was installed I didn't hear a thing. I should also note that nothing appears to be affecting performance. Puts out 100 watts no problem. [Elecraft] Slight tx noise?
Hello, I have had a K3/100 for a few months and I'm loving it. My question concerns a barely audible, very high-pitched whine coming from the rig on transmit. Actually, it still happens when I'm in TX test mode. I don't believe it is the fans. I searched the reflector archives and didn't see anyone else mentioning it. Is this the norm, or am I blessed with a unique feature? 73, Joe, N1QD __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
