Re: [Elecraft] K3 ANT1 / ANT2 switching

2022-04-11 Thread William Lagerberg
Hi there Tim,

I have the same problem, I did some thinks at the back site changing the 2
meter antenna, I think I touch the 12 volt power supple and then the K3 went to
the same as you describe. When I press the ANT button with the AUTO ATU in
Bypass, there's a click, and the annunciation changes from ANT1 to ANT2, but I
can still hear signals just as loud, even though there a dummy load on ANT2.
Also If I transmit, it doesn't matter whether I have ANT1 or ANT2 selected, RF
always comes out of ANT1 socket. If I have the ATU activated, the symptoms are
exactly the same. What was your solution ?? I think it's in the software, but
where as far as I know it only went of.. and I turned it on again which I doe
every day.

Regards William

Subject: [Elecraft] K3 ANT1 / ANT2 switching

Hi,

I have acquired a second-hand K3/100 with the Auto ATU and 2nd receiver, which
I have been checking out, calibrating and installing extra filters.
Everything has worked exactly as expected, until I tried to use an antenna
connected to ANT2 socket.

I have a fan dipole connected to ANT1, and a 50 Ohm dummy load to ANT2. When I
press the ANT button with the AUTO ATU in Bypass, there's a click, and the
annunciation changes from ANT1 to ANT2, but I can still hear signals just as
loud, even though there a dummy load on ANT2. Also If I transmit, it doesn't
matter whether I have ANT1 or ANT2 selected, RF always comes out of ANT1
socket. If I have the ATU activated, the symptoms are exactly the same,
except when I switch from ANT1 to ANT2 there's no click.

The Auto ATU works fine, and I have the KRX3 "ANT=bnc" set.

I can also hear stations on the 2nd receiver through the ANT1 socket or via
AUX antenna socket.

The firmware has been updated to the latest versions for MCU, FPF, and both DSP
units.

Any help would be most welcome.

[Elecraft] Follow up shack / house burn

2017-06-24 Thread William Lagerberg
Dear Radio Friends,

First I am dutch and perhaps my English is not as good as it should be, sorry
for that.

It has been 5 almost 6 weeks after the fire with destroyed our house for 50% it
started in my shack. We am stil inventorying our house for the insurance. I
good send fotos, but don’t know how, the server don’t want that :-)

At first let me give all of you some advice, please take a digital camera and
walk trough your house and make from everything pictures, all stuf if it is in
a cabinet or in a drawer, downstairs upstairs or on the 2e floor just do it. It
saves you a lot of time. When something goos wrong like a fire or so. We really
lost a hole cabinets which all our papers invoices etc, a cabinet of 2 meters
high 1,20 wide it is just gone with everything in it.

I even did hear somebody who has inventory listsof everything. But
thats for you to decide..

My question is, everything is burned some things only on the outside my 736 is
just gone but the 50 Mhz and the 1296 module looks ok, my R5000 is a goner but
the filters are ok,

I took my K1 K2 K3 and P3 totally apart an whith a sonic-cleaner with special
stuf ( from the guys who are helping us) I cleaned every part of them.
I think I managed to save a lot of electronics the prints look like new. but
all the cabinets and buttons are gone, from the K3 the daling knob is melted,
really and the prints look fine. My KX3 seem to have survived it it was in a
aluminium box.

So I am looking for somebody who has the opposite per haps a lightning strike
or so and all electronics gone but the cabinets ok.

If there is somebody who can help me I would be very glad. I am looking for K2
K2 Tuner and K3 and P3 housing.

In the last stage I am going to ask Elecraft to help me., but I thought first
try this.

Regards everybody PE1BSB

[Elecraft] Fire in the house li-ion

2017-05-17 Thread William Lagerberg
Guys,

I want to give you a advice, my shack it (was) in the basement (cellar??) I do
all my thing for the hobby there.
A collega of mine asked me to take a look at two Go-Pro LI-Ion accu's because
they where not loading anymore.

So I put the first one on the loader for 8 till 9 hours and checked it and it
was ok ( with 10% loading current)
Then I dit put the second one in same place at 10 in the morning at 3 my
daughter called me there is a fire.
We rusted to the cellar but I could not enter it was filled with dark smoke.

My shack is gone and 90 % off my house, I have insurance don’t now if it is
enough to cover all of my Elecraft stuff

My K1, my own build K2 my K3 and my KX3 are gone, I found my K1 in 20 cm off
water really down under, I clean’t it with fresh water.
After that flushed it with pure alcohol. It is completely taken apart today as
far as is possible.
I Hope it will survive I will let it dry for a lot of day’s

My K2 is melted the same as my P3 and my K3 perhaps I can order the outside of
both, but a am still not allowed to enter the basement so I don’t know how it
looks at the inside.

So finale the message is please take care with li-ion accuse battery’s. It did
cost me our house in 1 hour.

[Elecraft] 60 m and Low Level Transverter Interface (K60XV)

2016-10-19 Thread William Lagerberg

Hi list,

I do have an K2 transceiver, and i love it build it for 90% by my self and it
works ok.
After getting the DSP print last month, the last thing i am looking for is an
(i would like still to be build) K60XV.

The adventage is not only 60 meters but also the transverter in/output.

Is there somebody who does not need it anymore, or think’s that William is such
a nice guy he can have it, i would like that very much.

I live in Holland, so that good be a small issue but the package is not big. so

[Elecraft] New second hand P3 question

2016-07-05 Thread William Lagerberg
Hi Group,

I have a P3 connected with VGA and TXmon to my K3.

Before this P3 i used a SDR-IQ connected to a computer and if-out to the
SDR-IQ, because of the computer noise and the slow starting of windows etc etc,
i wanted a P3 this is now perfect.

It works nice, but my waterfall display is very unclear it not like i was used
to, is there a way to change that ???
It’s unclear on the P3 and on the VGA monitor which is 21” so it should be ok.

Next to that is it so that i was used to when i turn my dial of my K3 that the
display changes immediately (i was able to tune in to a station with the
display) with the P3 there is really a noticeable time between turning and
moving of the display. Is this normal or should i change some settings in the
P3 or the K3.

All software is the latest of elecraft.

[Elecraft] K3 transverter question

2016-06-02 Thread William Lagerberg
Dear fellow Elecraft users,

I have build a 70 Mhz transverter, i have read the K3 manual about how to
connect a transverter.

I have in my K3 the build in 2 meter transverter, and i do understand that the
144 Mhz transverter, also uses 28-30 Mhz.

What is the best way to solve this,

I have seen that Elecrafts own transverters, can be daisy chained. Can i build
that into my own transverters ?? I like to have the possibility to connect more
transverters then this one.

Is there more documentation available and where can i find that.

I o have the building transverter option in my K3 KXV3A or B i don't now i have
the latest one still have to be build in.

Thanks all ready for all your advices.

Re: [Elecraft] Building K2 SSB unit KSB2 version E

2016-04-25 Thread William Lagerberg
Thanks Don,

I reversed the connectors, female = female and male = male now.

For everybody when you desolder the connectors used in the K2 for the SSB board
for example, the pins are getting lose in the plastic by the mail connectors,
take care that they get the same hight when u use them again….
My advice remove them and take new one’s its not the money :-))

Re: [Elecraft] New Elecraft Product: K-Pod Control Panel for K3S and K3 Transceivers

2016-04-14 Thread William Lagerberg
Hi Wayne,

Sound’s good to me, but with a wire connected to K3 or K3S wasn’t there a
possibility to make a small bluetooth module into K3 and K3S then there would’t
have been a possibility to do it wireless…
Next to that, you probably would have the possibility to connect other devices
to ??

I am not a programmer, so perhaps it is program technical not possible, but i
think that would have been very nice perhaps better….

Then you can put it where you like on your desk.

My little attribute on this subject, William PE1BSB.

[Elecraft] Elecraft SP3 External Speaker details

2015-09-15 Thread William Lagerberg PE1BSB

Hi all,

I like the Speaker its looks far better then the SP8 from Yaesu i am using
now….., it’s for what it is a little bit expensive including tax and transport
to get it to holland, it will be i think around 260 dollars, but i assume the
quality wil make that right. And when the USB interface for the K3 is available
it’s two for one freight costs.

But my comments:

First I would have liked a 3,5 mm headphone plug at the front. Some body
mentioned it and it is really a good idea.

Next i have seen on question about room in the case for a power supply, i do
really like to investigate if it is possible to put a 25 / 30A power supply
into that empty housing. Perhaps even the one that Elecraft comments and sells
on it’s site SS30DV.

Is it possible somebody send a picture of the unit open.. perhaps the guys at
Elecraft…

Is there info on the Elecraft website that describes what new boards will be
available for the K3 to make it almost a K3S, i.e., new synthesizer, new

I skimmed over the website but must have missed the info.

 Many thanks for any assistance.

[Elecraft] [K3] 2 meter module

2015-07-07 Thread William Lagerberg

Hi there group,

I am all ready member of the KX3 yahoo group, but regarding the fact that i do
have also a K3, i became member here to.

I do have 2 small questions:

1) is about the fact that on 2 meters you can dial within a 5 10 12,5 etc (
don't remember how you call it) but my problem is that several times that when
i go to dial over the band in fm with 12,5 it doesn’t start at for instance
145.000 and then go little steps 12,5 up.
No it does for instance when i switch it on 144.995 it is going to make steps
from there and goos 12,5 up zo 145.0025 etc that is not handy :-))

2) and perhaps it is related, it seems that my frequency is 5 kHz of the right
frequency ( i only tested receiving by the way) what is the best way to check
and, i am pretty sure it is, how can i fix it…
