Re: [Elecraft] suggested PC???
Jerry, in contrast to some of the feedback RS-232 serial ports are still readily available on many brand name computers today including laptops, desktops, towers, and rack mount PCs. I regularly purchase and set up many for my employer. While many USB-to-serial converters and their drivers work well (especially FTDI) I still suggest including a native (built-in) serial port in your computer wish list. They are hardware based, generally OS independent, and do not require OS-compatible drivers. And if you have any confusion over USB 2.0 vs. 3.0, USB 3.0 is backwards compatible and should support any USB 2.0 device. The 3.0 compliant ports can also supply a little more DC current as well. Re: [Elecraft] KX3-2M Module FAQ now available
Wayne, if I understand correctly neither the K3 or KX3 transceivers currently offer digital coded squelch capability for repeater access. Can it be added through firmware? Re: [Elecraft] Pelican Case
Pelican's foam inserts have pick&pluck precut foam which allows you to shape the middle section of foam to the device you're storing in it. Using your fingers you can easily remove the precut squares of foam until the entire cutout closely matches the shape of your radio including the knobs. Re: [Elecraft] P3 Frequency
I suggest you double check that your K3 interconnecting cables are connected properly then update the P3 to the latest firmware. If you're using any third party radio control software with you K3 I suggest you disconnect it or turn it off while troubleshooting the P3 problem. Re: [Elecraft] CM500
Tom, I recently bought a CM500 new and it did not include any papers at all however the headset's wiring reflects a standard used in computer sound cards. The mic jack/plug is usually wired as follows; tip- mic signal ring- bias voltage (optional) sleeve- ground Hope this helps. [Elecraft] K3 LoCut/HiCut
Would someone please explain the purpose and function of the low cut and high cut controls on the K3? There doesn't seem to be any explanation I can find in the current user's manual and I'd like to make sure I'm understanding their function correctly because the response I see on the P3 passband icon contridicts what I expected to see occur when increasing or decreasing either setting. Thanks very much. Re: [Elecraft] K3 Shipped But Requires Signature!!!
That doesn't work in my area- UPS ignores such notes. I recently went through the same problem and was able to get the package redirected. Elecraft told me they insure the package and by doing so they are bound by a UPS policy that requires a signiture on the recipient's end. Elecraft does offer other shipping options but they can cost a little extra. I suppose it's just another cost of doing business these days.
