It isn't a matter of if your K3s will fail, it is a question of when.
The radio's current sense resistor (SMD 1206) is rated at 1/2 watt,
while (depending on options) will dissipate nearly 2 watts at 10 watt
transmit. It took several years but my resistor drifted from 0.05 ohms
up to 0.068 ohms triggering HI CUR errors whenever I turned on the sub
receiver. I am glad it didn't unsolder itself. I did this write up on

Note: The original K3 has a higher wattage current sense resistor and
should be fine they cheapen the K3s
