Re: [Elecraft] Elecraft Digest, Vol 116, Issue 4

2013-12-03 Thread Phil Hystad
In Theoretical Physics it is common to use what physicists call God Given
natural units where constants like C for the speed of light or h-bar are set
to 1 (without units).

In this system, Power, which is [Energy] divided by [Time], is actually
Inverse [Time]-Squared. This is because Energy has the same units as
inverse time.

Thus, Power can be expressed in Seconds to the minus 2 power.

2013-12-03 Thread Vic K2VCO
That reminds me of a story from my youth. My friend was showing his ham station to his
aged grandmother. And this is my 80-meter antenna, he said, pointing to a dipole in the
back yard.

80 meters? she said, in her thick Hungarian accent. Is that dangerous?

Horsepower works for me. When you equate power to horses, you get a much
more graphic understanding of waste than you do with watts. And anyone
who can't make contacts with 6.7 millihorsepower is doing something wrong.
