According to a letter I have from Yaesu, the FL7000 grounds its TX INH

in the K3 manual, the ACC pin 7 TX INH appears to NOT transmit when it is
 grounded.

 They are opposites???

Fred,

The 'opposite' TX INH topic has been discussed before (and confirmed..?) and
this was relevant to me as a Yaesu FT990 user. However earlier posts from
Eric claimed an amp keying loop is unnecessary with the K3/K2 and a modern
amp.

Yesterday I put K3 0145(!) on air with my Acom 1000 amp and can confirm (and
concur with Brendan Minish EI6IZ) that the K3 keys this modern amp perfectly
in full qsk with just the straight key out connection. Note also that the TX
INH feature is described under Transverter Control in the manual, not under
amp keying.

The K3 is a great radio; the problem for me now is my 30A power supply
sounds like a worn out vacuum cleaner when it kicks in - any suggestions for
a nice quiet p/s available in the UK...?

Also is there no easy way to reference earlier posts in the archives here?
Yahoo groups number their posts which makes cross referencing quick and easy
and something like that would be handy here (as above.)

FWIW I am using a Diamond GSV3000 - you could buy this from Martin Lynch
Sons. The fan only kicks in when it gets very warm - as it's only 15C in the
office and the radio is always on receive this isn't going to happen. Also I
can adjust the voltage to 12v

Or Call Chris Taylor at MLS and just ask for a suggestion, they have quite
some second-hand stuff which passes through their emporia.

Now back to writing SSTV code for Windows...

[Elecraft] K3 and Yaesu FL7000 amp

2007-12-18 Thread cloud runner
It appears to me (but I don't know for certain) that ACC Band0-3 can be mapped
directly to Band Data A-D on the yaesu amp. I can see current limiting
resistors in the amp, and the binary code is the same under CONFIG KIO NOR

But, I have my wonders about the TX INH of the K3 and that of the FL7000.

According to a letter I have from Yaesu, the FL7000 grounds its TX INH line
when it is ready for the exciter to transmit. From what I am reading in the K3
manual, the ACC pin 7 TX INH appears to NOT transmit when it is grounded.
