Read your post on the forum. I am in the same situation with my K3s trying
to use it with MARS-ALE. Did you ever find a solution?

[Elecraft] K3 with MARS-ALE

2014-06-12 Thread Michael James Hauan
Greetings!

I’m hoping someone has configured their K3 to use PC-ALE or MARS-ALE and can
share their knowledge.

I have my K3 linked to my PC in 2 ways — via sound card (Signalink USB) and via
RS-232. It works fine with FLDIGI and with M110A.

Using the Kenwood radio settings I’ve progressed to the point of having it scan
the frequencies in the appropriate QRG file. However, it behaves strangely —
switching to SPLIT on some frequencies, for instance.

If you’ve set this up successfully, I’d love to learn the particulars of how
you did it!

Re: [Elecraft] K3 with MARS-ALE

2014-06-12 Thread Joel Black

Michael,

I cannot help other than to confirm that I had the same issues with my
K3 using MARS-ALE. I quit trying at that point and I didn't like all the
rapid relay switching with the band switching. What little information I
*did* find was from the MARS-ALE Yahoo Group.

Good luck.

[Elecraft] [K3] KAT3 MARS Operation

2009-06-08 Thread list1
Hi All,
I see that this was asked once before on the reflector but got no replies.

How well does the KAT3 work outside of the ham bands? Are the settings
still stored for out-of-band frequencies like those which are used for MARS
operation? My other choices are the LDG AT 200 Pro and one of the MFJ
units.

As a Mars member, I can't disclose the frequencies but you can get that
through your state MARS director. You can google your state and MARS and go
to the web page to get contact information. Tell your MARS director before
you fill out the application that your K3 can be modified for MARS and that
you can't modify the radio until you get your MARS call sign and credentials
to send to Elecraft. In the mean time, you can be studying the MARS manual.
I am sure your MARS director will have a better understanding of whats going
on and he will instruct what to put in the application regarding if your
radio is opened for MARS. See you on the bands.

All you have to do in order to get your radio opened up is send
Elecraft your callsign and your serial and request the program to open
up the radio.

The frequencies are not all that secret. Here are quite a few they

I'll bet a little internet searching will yield more. They are close

Re: [Elecraft] K3 and MARS

2008-09-23 Thread David F. Reed

Michael,

MARS requires us to not disclose the frequencies we use or their
designators, but I do use my K3 on MARS frequencies quite successfully.

There is one modification required, and some self imposed limitations.

The modification is accomplished by running a program Elecraft can
provide; it is easily revered should you choose to by using the same
program.

The frequency allocations differ a bit bit associated service (Army
MARS, Navy Marine Corps MARS, Air Force Mars), but each one will tell
you theirs on admission.

So, don't worry, your K3 will work very will on the MARS frequencies and
digital modes they use (with the right sound card software, etc.).

Good luck!
