You may have missed the two-year long pandemic that, among other things,
has sickened multiple Elecraft employees, caused many to work from home,
and disrupted supply chains, to the extent that nearly all the major
carmakers can't get chips to put cars on dealers lots. Elecraft is a
small company, and they're swimming in the same ocean as the rest of us.
They're 20 miles down the road from me, and I know several of their
employees, as well as the two owners.

I have two. I purchased the 1st one when I ordered upgrade items for a K3. The
2nd one (AFAICR) came free with the K3S. I sold the K3, but the hat didn’t go
with it! 😀

I still have the K3S and I wore the one of the hats today for a hospital
appointment, as the WX was slightly cold today.

Re: [Elecraft] A hat was saved (totally apropos of nothing)

2022-03-29 Thread Nate Bargmann
Don't feel too bad, Bob, you're not the only one.

I bought my K3 in autumn 2010 and have optioned it up over the years,
the last big upgrade being the second receiver in late 2017. I ordered
everything with the expectation that I would receive what I had ordered
and I did, nothing more, nothing less, except that I was pleased that
the filters I received for the second receiver were matched very close
to the filters I had originally ordered for the K3. Kudos to the staff
for maintaining that database even though over seven years had elapsed.
The filters are close enough that I have no issues with diversity
receive.

A friend was at Dayton some years back (I was last there in '06) and
gave me a K3 button he picked up. That is the only "swag" I have from
Elecraft. I have numerous Yaesu caps, a few Icom caps (I don't wear
either brand), and a DX Engineering cap even though DXE has probably
gotten less of my money over the years than Elecraft!

It is what it is, as they say.

Re: [Elecraft] A hat was saved (totally apropos of nothing)

2022-03-29 Thread Bob Schwerdlin

Wow!  At least you got a hat with your radio.

I put down my $1500 deposit on a K4 at the 2019 Hamvention and waited
almost 2 and a half years to finally receive the radio.  My very first
Elecraft purchase ever.  When Madelyn emailed me to say the radio is
ready to ship, I asked for at least a K4 lapel pin button, like the ones
given away at that hamfest, or possibly a baseball cap to be thrown in
with the shipment.  The radio was shipped with nothing but exactly what
I ordered.  I guess I should be pleased with that, after the EXTREMELY
LONG WAIT.  Unfortunately, I was never made aware of any K4 lapel pins
while at that hamfest, and it was never mentioned and I never saw anyone
handing them out. I was kinda disappointed.  I realize it was not all
Elecraft's fault.  So many issues came up during that wait period, but I
also feel like the radio was announced and sold before it was truly
ready for production.  All that money and EXTENDED wait, and not even a
"Sorry about the long wait... here's a little token of our
appreciation"  That would have been appreciated.

Flame off.
