Re: [Elecraft] K2 XV50 Transverter Antenna Connection

2012-03-02 Thread John D'Ausilio
You probably need to open up the XV and look at how it was set up ..
jumpers move around depending on whether it's used with Elecraft or
foreign equipment, different attenuators, etc
Is the transverter power control working? e.g. if you select the band
on K2 does the XV light up?

If it's all set up properly, the pair of cables from K60XV and XV50
carry 28MHz between K2 and XV, antenna connects to big connector on XV

Re: [Elecraft] K2 XV50 Transverter Antenna Connection

2012-03-02 Thread Don Wilhelm
Ron,

The 6 meter antenna connects directly to the XV50.

Since you have the K60XV, set up the XV50 for 1 mW input power, and set
it as TRN1 (or 2 or 3 or 4, your choice) with the dip switches in the
XV50. Also set it for split TX/RX IF cables. The K2 TRNx selection
should match the DIP switch settings in the XV50. Set the other menu
parameters - especially the power equals Low and 1.00 mW. That should
make you good to go

When the KPA100 is connected, you cannot use the QRP ANT2 for anything -
the presence of the KPA100 forces the KAT2 to ANT1.

When you have it set up correctly, the band switch will select 6 meters,
the XV50 will turn on and you can TX/RX just like on the HF bands, but
using the antenna that is connected to the XV50.

Re: [Elecraft] K2 XV50 Transverter Antenna Connection

2012-03-02 Thread KM4VX

Don: I have the dip switches and the shorting blocks correctly set in the XV50,
but I don't see the following in the K2 menu. This is from your e-mail: Also
set it for split TX/RX IF cables. The K2 TRNx selection
should match the DIP switch settings in the XV50. Is this done inside the K2
or XV50 or is it a menu function of the K2? I set the TRN1 on the K2 menu
correctly per the instructions. Thanks again for the help. Ron
