I would like to add my opinion to this issue... just in case anyone is keeping score :-) . I would recommend that this NOT be incorporated into the K3. There are at least 4 places that I'm aware of on the existing K3 where PTT can be manually asserted while in SSB mode. On the Front Panel one may tap the XMIT button; the MIC connector has a PTT pin for access; on the back panel there is an input jack for an external switch for asserting PTT; and the Accessory port on the back has a pin dedicated to PTT. It would seem to me that 4 different input locations are enough and that the paddle/key inputs should NOT be used for a PTT function.
