Re: [Elecraft] new firmware release
I used to get problems when I used to download the firmware and used the rig straight away and I found that if I switched the rig on and off twice in a row it functions perfectly after that, so I follow that procedure every time I load the firmware now and never get a problem. -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/new-firmware-release-tp5813395p5826846.html Sent from the [K3] mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] new firmware release
Thanks,I haven't heard that before, but I will certainly do this from now on. It does seem to involve the MCU module etc. Thanks again. Re: [Elecraft] new firmware release
Hmmm, not sure why you need to switch off twice, once IS required as noted in the K3 Manual and that has been the case with mine from day one. Never had a FW download failure...yep, I got'em crossed now folks...:-) 73's Gary On Sun, Dec 12, 2010 at 10:07 AM, wf4o foste...@gmail.com wrote: Thanks,I haven't heard that before, but I will certainly do this from now on. Re: [Elecraft] new firmware release
After shutting everything down and letting it set over night, I downloaded v 4.22 from my macbook pro to the k3 without incident and the radio works perfectly. This same thing happened when I tried to install the beta version. Only after shutting down overnight was I able to reinstall v 4.14. My filter configuration looks fine. So now could it be a hookup issue between the macbook pro and the K3? I'm using Prolific driver V1.4.0, K3 utility for mac and I also use MacLoggerDx. The problems downloading firmware were limited to the dsp load. My radio is grounded but the mac was on ac adapter. Thanks. -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/new-firmware-release-tp5813395p5818668.html Sent from the [K3] mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] new firmware release
Just a wild guess, but are your filters enabled for the mode you're using? Using the K3 Utility's Configuration tab, Configure Crystal Filters, check the rows titled CW Enable, LSB enable, etc. These allow the filters to be used for receive for the various modes. Your 400 Hz filter needs to be checked for it to be used for receive. 73 de Dick, K6KR -Original Message- From: elecraft-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:elecraft-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of wf4o Sent: Tuesday, December 07, 2010 1:54 PM To: elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Elecraft] new firmware release I'm new to the K3 and so my settings may be faulty, buy here goes. I downloaded and installed the latest firmware today without problem. My problem is that when I narrow my width to 0.5 I immediately lose all audio. I have a 400 Hz filter installed. I only regain audio with widening the width greater than 500 Hz and by turning off the AGC. This occurs with or without the APF being engaged. Re: [Elecraft] new firmware release
Sounds like either your filter configuration is wrong, or your narrow filter is faulty. Watch the XFIL section of the front panel display as you narrow the bandwidth and make sure that it switches to the appropriate filter slots based on what's physically installed. If not, use the K3 Utility to adjust the filter configuration. Based on your statement that you have a 400Hz filter, but the problem occurs at the 500Hz setting, I'm leaning towards configuration issue - you're probably switching to a slot that has no filter installed. ~Iain / N6ML On Tue, Dec 7, 2010 at 1:54 PM, wf4o foste...@gmail.com wrote: I'm new to the K3 and so my settings may be faulty, buy here goes. The numbers had returned to what I'd guess were the parameters used as baseline by the factory. Not really complaining as my K3 is absolutely SUPER! Now for my question: Is this a feature [saving the TCXO parameters] something coming in the future or am I'm doing something wrong? The link to save these numbers disappears by the time I've inserted the numbers. I can't see what is on your screen, but if I'd written the program then I'd make the link to save the numbers disappear if one or more of the numbers was invalid. I have certainly had no trouble saving them, and they are all there the next time I open that part of the utility. - Julian, G4ILO. Re: [Elecraft] New Firmware Release!
Hi, Jim! The TCXO screen has a number of edit controls which are text boxes that you type numbers into. The Apply button is enabled (not dimmed out) whenever any of the edit controls have a value that is different from the value read from the radio, and all the edit controls contain valid data. The K3 Utility accepts only certain characters to be entered into the edit controls, and there are range checks on each of the controls, to avoid wildly incorrect values (off by a factor of 10, for example). If you change an edit control and move to another control (by tabbing to another control or clicking some other button), the K3 Utility validates the text you've entered. If any edit control contains invalid data, the Apply button is disabled (dimmed). If you leave an edit control that contains invalid data, the utility beeps a bit to alert you, and the Apply button at the bottom of the page will be disabled. If you go back and correct the invalid edit control, the apply button should become enabled again. I'd recommend you change a few items at a time, and save (press the Apply button) after entering one or two just to see how that works. The ten Frequency Delta (ppm) edit controls expect a number between +9.99 and -9.99. You don't have to enter a + sign, it's assumed. The controls expect no more than two decimal places. 0.25 is fine, 0.250 is not accepted. I've only seen a couple of TCXO data sheets, but when I wrote the code I assumed that the PPM value would be specified to two decimal places. Is your TCXO data sheet different? Thanks, Dick, K6KR Jim wrote: All of my parameter numbers provided on my TCXO data sheet went in without a hitch. But when I tried to save them to memory, I could not.
