diary-anniversary doesn'work om Mac osx 12.6.3

2023-01-29 Thread Renato Pontefice
I’ l try here, because I’m really confused about this prob.

I try to perform this simple line of emacs manual (this is the perfect page of
the manual where I took this: where I took this: "31.13.10 Sexp Entries and the
Fancy Diary Display”). Because trying to learn emacs I would try as many entry
possibile as I could (I know I can obtain that in a different way).

But on my Mac OS X platform I cannot obtain the right result.
I’ve tried with:
- emacs ver 26.2; 28.3; 28.3 (via terminal “emacs -Q” and via GUI With or
without a init.el file

-aquamacs 3.6 (that use emacs 25.3.50.1)
And finally, I’ve installed a VM, running Debian 11 and try it running emacs by
terminal and typing ORG-AGENDA ret a
I obtain the agenda with the correct entry.

So I’m wondering:
Maybe Mac osx does not contain the right (elisp?) code to obtain that?

Any suggestion will be appreciate, because I cannot explain to my self this

Thank you

Can I have the hourly set in Agenda in different way?

2022-11-04 Thread Renato Pontefice
I try to explain my self.
On my Agenda, I have this view:

Friday  4 November 2022
  renato:  8:00.. cili
   8:00..
  10:00..
  12:00..
  13:43.. now - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
  14:00..
  16:00..
  renato: 18:00-19:30  yoga
  18:00..
  20:00..

I’m Wondering if could it be possible to have a situation like this:

Friday  4 November 2022
  renato:  8:00.. cili
   8:00..
  10:00..
  12:00..
  13:43.. now - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
  14:00..
  16:00..
  renato: 18:00 yoga
  19:00.. "
  20:00..

Or a similar way where I have the slot 18 - 19:30 occupied by the event I’ve
signed on my .org.
Not like the firs image where I see 18:00 - 19:30 yoga and then the line
 18:00..
  20:00..

I hope to have explained what I would

Thank you

Sorry for the boredom, but I still have prob with agenda.

So nothing for 4 November…
On my init.el I have this specific line:

;;-- file utilizzati per TODO list in Agenda
(setq org-agenda-files

So what can be wrong?

Some question on How to handle date, recursive events

2022-10-11 Thread Renato Pontefice
Hi,
I’m building my own calendar. I try to check:
1 - retry a thing until it is not done
2 - recursive events (each week, every first Friday of month…)

i.e.
1)
** TODO call Paul < 2022 10 05 10:30  +1d>
In this example I’ve created an Agenda view that remember me to call Paul every
day, at 10:30 each day until Paul answer me. Then I would set it as DONE.Today
Paul has answers me, but if I try to set it as DONE (Shift - right arrow) it
does not cycle to DONE state. I’ve thought that is the + 1d that block me to
set as DONE. I’ve removed it and now it goes as DONE. But the entry still
appear on next days as DONE. Why it does not erase it self from Agenda view? Is
it possible? Or not?

2)
Is the a way to set recursive events like “the firs Friday of the month” or
each Tuesday of the month, not date-related (I mean: with +1 w I add the event
the days x +7 days. Isn’t it?

I hope I have been clear.

Sure:

```org
* TODO Header
** TODO Subheader
* Setup
#+begin_src emacs-lisp :results none
(setq org-agenda-prefix-format '((agenda  . " %i %-12:c%?-12t% s")
Note the "% l" on the todo format to use level variable.
Evaluating this will result in "if: Symbol’s value as variable is void:
[O] Bug: org-files-list duplicate files [9.1.3 (9.1.3-29-g037db0-elpa @ ~/.emacs.d/elpa/org-20171204/)]
2017-12-05 Thread Renato Ferreira
Hello,
Investigating an issue I was having with (org-resolve-clocks) that i would
need to resolve the same clock twice, i believe i stumbled upon the
following bug on (org-files-list) (used by (org-resolve-clocks)):
It gets a list from (org-agenda-files) and pushes the open org
buffers found through (buffer-list), but i believe it _incorrectly_ uses
(cl-pushnew) since it ultimately uses memql (which compares with eql) to
check existence of the buffer file name (a string) with the
(org-agenda-files) list (of strings), returning duplicate items on lists
since compared strings are not the same lisp objects.
Advising (org-files-list) with (delete-dups) is a workaround i'm using but
(org-files-list) needs to be changed to use member instead of memql.
Thank you very much.
[O] [PATCH] org-agenda.el Correct :inherit on org-agenda-fontify-priorities
2016-11-04 Thread Renato Ferreira
When using:
(setq org-agenda-fontify-priorities 'cookies)
(setq org-priority-faces '((65 . "#FF9393") (66 . "#CC9393") (67
. "#AC7373") (68 . "#7C4343")))
(org-agenda-fontify-priorities) generates an (:inherit nil ...) face
alist, which ultimately (i can't trace specifically where) causes a lot
of: "Invalid face reference: nil" "Invalid face attribute :inherit nil"
when generating the agenda buffer (when it contains tasks with
priorities).
This issue has been present since 8.3 (and earlier i believe), i've
always patched locally but now i'm using melpa so it would be great if
someone could verify and merge this.
Thanks a lot,
Renato Ferreira
Re: [O] Bug: Priority #B in Agenda causes invalid face reference [8.2.1 (8.2.1-15-ge5cecc-elpa @ /Users/Paul/.emacs.d/elpa/org-20131021/)]
2015-04-29 Thread Renato Ferreira
Hello,
Yes you are right, i digged deeper in the problem and it seems to be
that the cond:
(cond ((org-face-from-face-or-color
   'priority nil
   (cdr (assoc p org-priority-faces
 ((and (listp org-agenda-fontify-priorities)
   (org-face-from-face-or-color
'priority nil
(cdr (assoc p org-agenda-fontify-priorities)
 ((equal p l) 'italic)
 ((equal p h) 'bold))
returns nil altogether for priorities which are neither the highest
(equal p h) or the lowest (equal p l) (hence the bug appearing on #B
priorities by default).
That gives (nil . org-priority) so:
(overlay-put ov 'face (nil . 'org-priority))
Which triggers the message the second time it runs.
From the elisp manual for (overlay-put ... 'face (a-cons . cell)):
• A cons cell of the form ‘(foreground-color . COLOR-NAME)’ or
‘(background-color . COLOR-NAME)’.  This specifies the
foreground or background color, similar to ‘(:foreground
COLOR-NAME)’ or ‘(:background COLOR-NAME)’.  This form is
osupported for backward compatibility only, and should be
avoided.
Which makes me think the whole cond inside it:
(overlay-put ov 'face (cons (cond ...)))
is kinda wrong from the start. But i don't know, just guessing because
overlay-put is a C function.
Anyways, for the ECM:
(setq org-priority-faces nil)
(setq org-agenda-fontify-priorities 'cookies)
(setq org-highest-priority ?A)
(setq org-lowest-priority ?C)
Create an .org with:
* TODO [#B] Test
Start the agenda for TODO items with buffer restriction on that file.
When it loads and everytime you pass the cursor on the line with the
TODO item it gives the message:
Invalid face reference: nil
I hope that helps, thanks already for looking into it!
Re: [O] Bug: Priority #B in Agenda causes invalid face reference [8.2.1 (8.2.1-15-ge5cecc-elpa @ /Users/Paul/.emacs.d/elpa/org-20131021/)]
2015-04-27 Thread Renato
I'm using release_8.2.10 and experienced the same problem.
The problem seems to be the function org-agenda-fontify-priorities which
calls:
(org-face-from-face-or-color
   'priority nil
   (cdr (assoc p org-priority-faces)))
which expects a face to inherit from. When org-priority-faces is nil or
color or even does not specify the priority(e.g. B) it inherits from
nil and causes the message.
Setting it to something like
   (quote
((65 . org-level-1)
 (66 . org-level-2)
 (67 . org-level-3)
 (68 . org-level-4
is a workaround to the problem.
[O] using .rtf on emacs
2014-07-29 Thread Renato Pontefice
Hi,
I need to handle .rtf (made by MS office)
Each time I try to handle them, I receive some errors.
Then, I need to export from MS Office and Open it from Libreoffice.
each time, I found that i.e. :
- I lost
- highlighted text
- bullet list
- if I set Arial text (in MS office) I have Times New Roman in LO
In conclusion: the two version are different.
so, I'm Thinking to handle those file, with a very low level sw (as emacs
is)
but, I don't know, how to handle .rtf on emacs.
Do exists a way to do that?
[O] working on cloud
2014-01-13 Thread Renato Pontefice
I use for all emacs files git with server repository. Then on each
computer I'm using emacs with, I just clone that repository. The
positive side-effect of this is, that when you need to modify sources
for a particular computer, you just create new local branch. Then all
'common' init file tweaks can be done in master branch and it is very
easy to merge them into local one if needed
.d.
Hi,
I think this is (for me) the best way.
But, I'm not skilled to GIT
I'm wondering:
In Linux (but in win too) the file must have a particular name (.emacs on
linux; init.el on windows)
and reside on a particular folder.
How do you obtain that?
Thank you
I do that, but I receive in the *Org Agenda* buffer, the following text:
and nothing else.
I have on my 1.org the following line:
But nothing...
What I've done wrong?
[O] org-babel-lilypond basic mode: score size
2013-09-22 Thread renato
Hi, I just got some test lilypond snippets export nicely to latex, and
it's very nice to be able to mix normal text, with orgmode's formatting
ability, with music snippets.
There's only one little annoyance I'm having: in the final pdf files,
I'd like the scores (notes, staffs - everything) to be bigger. As a
hack I can adjust the options of \includegraphics in the .tex file,
but first I'd like to be able to adjust such settings from the .org
file, and second I would prefer an intelligent zoom, not simply of
the .eps image, so that as the score gets bigger it gets split among
more lines, without going out of the paper boundaries. Maybe there's
some option I can put in the lilypond's source blocks to make its
output in bigger font? I don't know much of lilypond actually...
cheers,
Hi Charles, actually it seems to be the best solution for me. I've made
some test runs and it really runs smoothly - you just run
org-caldav-sync in emacs and your orgmode and google calendar are
synced. The phone's default calendar is himself synced to google. It's
actually so painless I'm surprised, and I'm kind of expecting some
pitfall... we'll see :)
Next step will be to install owncloud (which org-caldav also supports)
on my VPS and bypass google.
I'll still use MobileOrg for consulting my more wiki-style org
files, but for pure agenda stuff, org-caldav is far smoother IMO.
Thanks anyways for your detailed replies!
[O] from Android to org's calendar in a painless way?
Hi, I like very much org's calendar and TODO system, but usually when
something new to put in the calendar pops up I'm away from my
I know MobileOrg for Android, but I currently only use it to sync
things from the computer to the phone (i.e. I just use it to have
my .org files with me all the time, for consulting) - the other way
around I find clumsy, because I have to remember, when on the computer,
to open a specific file and refile entries.
So, is there a painless way of adding events into my org-mode calendar
from my Android phone? By painless I mean as easy as adding something
into Android's built-in calendar, or as close to that as possible
Maybe passing through another app like google's calendar? Or maybe I
should just look deeper into MobileOrg (I'm using Dropbox right now - I
don't know if using WebDav or another method would ease things) ?
What's your setup?
I just realized that from MobileOrg you can add only TODO entries, you
can't put an active date on it (and thus it won't show in the android
calendar). So that really doesn't work the way I'd like.
Does something like IMAP exist for calendars? I allready have a VPS
  If you want Italian for all documents by default, set
  org-export-default-language:
 These are the recommend instructions, yes, and indeed how I imagined
 people to use it.
 I looked at it and while I can reproduce there's no bug.
 Start from emacs -q and eval
 (require 'ox-latex)
 (add-to-list 'org-latex-default-packages-alist '(italian babel nil))
 When I export the document
 #+begin_src org
* titel
 #+end_src
 the language defaults to org-export-default-language which is en.
 So it does what you'd expect and loads English in front of Italian
 'cause it's the document language.
 Compare to what Eric says:
 #+begin_src org
 #+LANGUAGE: it
* titel
 #+end_src
 You get only Italian.
 So it guesses the language correctly.
Hi, many thanks. Yes the #+language option is perfect, as I still want
my default language to be english.
Hi, I've customized org-latex-packages-alist and added the package
babel, with option italian, however in my latex exports I get:
\usepackage[italian, english]{babel}
I don't want the english option to be there (latex gives it priority
over the italian one it seems). What could be wrong? I have english as
default language on my system (archlinux), so maybe I should change some
variable in emacs?
[O] two latex bugs
2013-07-08 Thread renato
Hi,
1) could someone please substitute last-command-char with
last-command-event in cdlatex.el, as was suggested here [1], to be
able to insert carets and underscores in math-mode?
2) this:
\begin{align}\label{mylabel}
\left\{
\begin{array}{ll}
2+2 = 4 \\
2+2 \neq  4
\end{array}
\right.
\end{align}
gets exported badly, i.e. to this (notice how after \end{align}
everything repeats itself with escaping \):
\begin{align}\label{mylabel}
\left\{
\begin{array}{ll}
2+2 = 4 \\
2+2 \neq  4
\end{array}
\right.
\end{align}$\backslash$begin\{array\}\{ll\}
2+2 =\ 4 \\
2+2 $\backslash$neq \ 4
$\backslash$end\{array\}
$\backslash$right.
$\backslash$end\{align\}
\begin{array}{ll}
2+2 = 4 \\
2+2 \neq  4
\end{array}
\right.
\end{align}
it gets exported fine if \label{mylabel} is on its own line, instead of
right next to \begin{align}
[O] bug in latex export?
2013-04-27 Thread renato
Hi, don't know if this has allready been reported, but I just upgraded
to 8.0 and I stumped into this...
this in the .org file
\begin{theoremwithname}[hei]
theorem
\begin{align*}
2+2
\end{align*}
\end{theoremwithname}
gets latex-exported to this (note that after \endtheoremwithname
everything is replicated with escape characters):
\begin{theoremwithname}[hei]
theorem
\begin{align*}
2+2
\end{align*}
\end{theoremwithname}$\backslash$begin\{align*\}
2+2
$\backslash$end\{align*\}
$\backslash$end\{theoremwithname\}
\begin{align*}
2+2
\end{align*}
\end{theoremwithname}
which obviously brings to uncompilable latex code. BTW in the preamble
I have this that defines the environment theoremwithname:
#+LATEX_HEADER:
\newtheoremstyle{withname}{}{}{\itshape}{}{\bfseries}{.}{.5em}{\thmname{#3}
\thmnumber{#2}}
#+LATEX_HEADER: \theoremstyle{withname}
#+LATEX_HEADER: \newtheorem{theoremwithname}[equation]{Teorema}
[O] beamer export: :BEAMER_envargs: is ignored
Hi, it seems to me that the :BEAMER_envargs: property is ignored
unless :BEAMER_env: is set to block. Is this a bug or am I missing
something?
What I'd want to do BTW is have a frame with two columns, and have in
the left one a list and in the right one an image, with overlays such
that first every item of the list appears, and then when it's done the
image appears. I can do the column part with :BEAMER_col: allright, and
I was hoping to achieve the overlays with (supposing the list in the
first column has 4 items)
:BEAMER_env: ignoreheading
:BEAMER_engargs: 5-
in the properties of the image subtree... but it seems the envargs are
not exported in the latex code.
I'm using emacs 24.2 and org-mode 7.9.2
[O] latex-export: *text* to \textbf{text}
Hi, some more latex-export problems I wasn't able to solve myself...
When I put some text inside *s in the .org file, it does not get
translated to \textbf{} in the latex export if I'm inside some type of
italicized... any workaround to this?
better still, I'd like for org-agenda-list to ignore entries with a
certain tag...
I don't know what's the best way to manage this, but I think it's a
pretty common thing... I've got lots of TODOs for example regarding
my computer software environment (find out how to do this in emacs,
check out this new window manager and so on) - which are all
tagged :computer: - and I really don't want to see those unless I have
an hour of spare time which I decide to dedicate to such things. I
don't want to see them next to do the laundry - that's much more
important.
[O] android mobile org question on capture
2012-02-17 Thread Renato
Hi, I have finally set up mobile org on my android phone, with calendar
sync, and like it very much.
Regarding the capture functionality, is it (or will it be) possible to:
1) define wich file and under which header the TODOs get written to. I
have a notes.org file with Todo section where I store all my generic
TODOs... alternativly I guess I could set up an automated refile when
calling org-mobile-pull
2) define SCHEDULED and DEADLINE for the note. This would also be handy
because captured notes would appear right away in my android
calendar, without having to get to my pc, org-mobile-pull, add a
deadline, refile, and finally org-mobile-push.
I just upgraded from 0.8.0 to 0.8.3
cheers and a big thank you to who is writing this software,
