[emane-users] How to Implement New models to develop protocols at layer 2 !
Team, Please someone reply to my question, I am trying to implement my own bridge behaviour, means want to implement some new protocols at layer 2(data link layer) having my algorithms . As EMANE Emulator works on Layer 1 and Layer 2 so decided to use EMANE for this development, Please guide me how should I start developing using EMANE and how i can integrate it with core. Re: [emane-users] How to Implement New models to develop protocols at layer 2 !
Hi, Actually I am trying to implement IEEE 802.1q behaviour with my algorithm to achieve certain behavior, means I am trying to modify Switch behaviour to measure latency , jitter ..etc. To achieve above I will simulate wired network of different nodes connected with switch or network of daisy chain. Switches works on layer 2 and as EMANE works on Layer 1 and Layer 2 so I think EMANE would be a good choice to modify switch behaviour. (Please advice me whether EMANE suits my requirement) Regards Rakesh Kumar > On 26-Mar-2018, at 8:01 PM, Kaushik B. Hi Everyone, I am quite new to both CORE and EMANE. However, I am very much interested to know the low level details of interfacing as far as the EMANE-CORE integrations is concerned. In particular I need to develop my own protocol stack in EMANE(especially I am working on the Layer 2 protocols and want to simulate the wired networks) and I don't know how I can use it in CORE emulations. Hell team, I am working on a assignment where i have to develop IEEE802.1Q protocol which works on Layer 2 (Data Link Layer)means I need to modify the bridge behavior according to my algorithms and it will be for wired networks not for wireless. As emane works on layer 2 and layer 1 so i thought it would be the right choice but I have seen peoples have used EMANE for wireless network emulation not wired netowrk emulation. My question is 1) Can we use Emane to simulate the wired networks ? if yes please provide some details . 2) Can we integrate Emane with Core emulator for wired network emulation as in core I see Emane is used for wireless communication ? 3) How to implement the IEEE802.1Q Protocols using Emane?
