Re: [PSES] Training Delivery in the EU
I agree with John, use a *technical* translator. I’ve had great success finding low cost translation (and other) services from freelancer web sites. The one I use is www.freelancer.com http://www.freelancer.com/ , there are of course other similar sites. My experience of using the above site has been universally positive for translation and other spurious engineering tasks. But do remember when specifying your requirements – GIGO. Hope this helps. I am well aware that Information for Use (MD Annex 1, 1.7) is required to be provided in the official language of the country of use, and training is certainly information for use, but how to bridge the language gap for live training? Any thoughts will be appreciated.. It seems to me that it is a reasonable way to do it. You almost certainly won't get explicit rulings on things like this in standards or regulations, so we are down to consider what the putative 'reasonable person' of the courtroom would decide. Knowing translators, I recommend that you get the script translated by a qualifi! ed professional *technical* translator, and make sure that the live interpreter doesn't deviate too far from it without explaining why. Languages change over quite short times, for example, and the translator may produce a translation in 1950s language, which would sound odd now. -- OOO - Own Opinions Only. [PSES] Green multi conductor wire
Hi all I have a medico HF surgical handset where the designer has chosen green as a main color for parts of the product. Also the 3 wire cable to the handset has a green outer insulation over the 3 wires. Internal in the cable the 3 wires are blue, red and white. The product is for single use and cant be re-wired. Green is normally used for earth connection in US and Canada. But can we use green on a mulit-wire cable. National deviations to IEC 60601-1 claims; A PROTECTIVE EARTH CONDUCTOR or a PROTECTIVE EARTH CONNECTION or insulation shall be identified by either green or green and yellow colour. Colours of neutral and POWER SUPPLY CORD conductors shall be in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Part I, CSA C22.2 No. 21, and CSA C22.2 No. 49. Can we use green on a mulit-wire cable? Re: [PSES] Industrial Panel Shop for UL
John, You can start with EN 61439-1:2011 - Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies - Part 1: General rules. Years ago, we VDE-Certified a non-North American circuit-breaker panel using EN 60439-1, the above standard's predecessor. Re: [PSES] Training Delivery in the EU
Doug, et al, A lot of good comments were made on this topic. I have done a number of CE marking jobs for equipment bound for Turkey. Remember that Turkey is still an EU 'wannabee' country; implementation of EU requirements seems to be a work in progress. I have found that the local feedback on meeting the requirements varies all over the place; mostly a not too strict an interpretation of implementing the requirements. Meeting the customer expectations should be, in my opinion, the most important goal. :) br, Pete Peter E Perkins, PE Principal Product Safety Regulatory Consultant Tigard, ORe 97281-3427 503/452-1201fone/fax p.perk...@ieee.org - This message is from the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society emc-pstc discussion list.
