RE: Argentina EMC requirements

2000-01-10 Thread Dave Clark

Sandy,

Are you saying that Argentina follows the FCC rules? Or do they re-write
them with their own standards numbering scheme? Do you have a point of
contact?

Ron,

  I know that Argentina has In Country testing requirements for CFR 47
Part 15 Subpart C Intentional radiators.
 As for an AMPS/PCS phone which is I guess a Part 22 or Part 90 device
it would probably also require an in country approval but I am not sure.

Does anyone know the EMC requirements for Argentina? The EUT is an AMPS/PCS
phone.
The kit will also contain accessories: charger, etc.

regulatory requirements for Trinidad

1999-11-09 Thread Dave Clark

Does any one know what the regulatory requirements are for Trinidad? Or who
the approval authorities are?

I am interested in any information you may have regarding Product Safety,
EMC and/or Radio approvals.

Thanks.

RE: CE Countries

1999-10-08 Thread Dave Clark

Allen,

I asked this question a short while ago. This should help:

The European Economic Area (EEA) includes the fifteen member states of the
European Union (EU):

*   Austria
*   Belgium
*   Denmark
*   Finland
*   France
*   Germany
*   Greece
*   Ireland
*   Italy
*   Luxembourg
*   Netherlands
*   Portugal
*   Spain
*   Sweden
*   United Kingdom

and three of the four states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA):

*   Iceland
*   Norway
*   Liechtenstein

CE marking is also recognised by Switzerland, which is a member of EFTA but
not of the EEA or the EU (the distinction being principally concerned with
customs tarrifs).

For more details, see

http://www.conformance.co.uk/eea.html

I was also told that Countries considering membership in the EU but are not
yet there are
Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey

shielded enclosure installataion

1999-10-07 Thread Dave Clark

My company has a 12x12 sheilded enclosure that we would like assembled for
us. I prefer to have an experienced group install it so that we get the
most out of it from a shielding effectiveness point of view. Please let me
know if you have any leads on who would do this for me. We are located in
Nashua, NH which is right on the northern MA border.

Sincerely,

David Clark

RE: specs on the Web???

Try the IEC and ETSI websites. There is a charge for the IEC standards and
the ETSI standards are free.

Does anyone have an updated list of the EU countries? Or better yet the
countries which recoginze the EEC Directives (CE Marking). I think there
are some EFTA countries included in this list.

Yes but does it appear in the Official Journal for the Medical Device
Directive? I don't believe it does but I am not sure. If not then it is
not applicable.

It is my understanding that 61000-3-2 is a family standard (at least that
is what it says in the introduction of the copy that I have) and as such
includes all equipment equal to or less than 16 amps.

Subject: Medical Device Directive, IEC 601-1-2, and IEC 1000-3-2

I was asked the following question, and wasn't sure about the answer:

1) A manufacturer can claim his system complies with the Medical Device
Directive by testing to EN 60601-1-2:1993.

2) EN 60601-1-2:1993 does not have any requirements to test to IEC
1000-3-2.

3) Does that mean that the harmonic standard does not apply to this system
when
it becomes mandatory in 2001?

I realize the Second Edition of IEC60601-1-2 is just around the corner, and
that edition _does_ call out the harmonic test. However, I've been told
that
it may not take effect until 2003.
