Re: [PSES] Test Report Forms for IEC/EN/UL/CSA 61010-1 3rd Edition

2013-04-11 Thread Kunde, Brian
Thanks.

I did receive a reply from the IEC today. The delay would seem to be caused by
my questions being routed to the correct person to answer it. Here is the
answer I received:

We currently, have addendums to the TRFs for national differences, that are
made available only to our members. There will be a CMC meeting at the end of
June, the final decision will be held at that point.

So it would seem that since we are not an IEC member we wouldn't get the
national differences if I ordered their TRF. I may be able to get it from our
NB. We will see.

What's involved in becoming an IEC member?

Thanks to all for the help.

Dear Brian,

You cannot buy a prepared test report form with all national deviations. You
can only buy a basic IEC TRF on iec web page. TRFs are available free of charge
if your laboratory is a member of CB scheme. You can ask your certification
body for support.

Each certification body and CBTL has access to on-line CB Bulletin on CB scheme
web page, where are published all national deviations. Therefore each
laboratory is including national deviations into IEC TRF.

I hope it helps.

We do not use UL for an NRTL but I will check with our NRTL to see if they can

That second sentence is cryptic, but is actually very significant. I now
recall that the restricted availability of the national deviation data

widely known what the justification was.

This CMC (Certification Management Committee) is the body that would
decide whether to change the policy of restriction.

It used to be that you could buy a certain CB Bulletin which contained
all of the countries that are members of the IEC, what product
categories they were covered in and that the national deviations were
for those countries. I subscribed once upon a time but have not for years.

You can start here:
http://webstore.iec.ch/webstore/webstore.nsf/mysearchajax?Openformkey=CB%20Bulletinsorting=start=1onglet=1

Is this maybe somewhat close to what you are looking for? Not a TRF with
differences, but close?

Re: [PSES] Test Report Forms for IEC/EN/UL/CSA 61010-1 3rd Edition

2013-04-10 Thread Dan Roman
Brian,

I believe UL customers can download the national deviations for free (well
it is not really free if you are a UL client I guess) using the SCCL even if
you have not purchased the standard itself from UL. Do not know if CSA or
the others provide the same service.

Thanks for the information but I'm getting different answers from different
people.

Our local TUV:SUD office told me if I order the TRF from IEC that it will
include all available national deviations provided in a separate document.

I emailed the IEC off their website to ask them but no reply after several
days.

I purchased a copy of the IEC 61010-1 3rd Ed several years ago. Now that UL
and CSA has published their version, is there a way I can get just a list of
their National Differences without having to buy their Tri-National version
and go through it line by line?

There must be an easier way that I'm just not aware of. Please help.

Thanks,
The Other Brian

Dear Brian,

You cannot buy a prepared test report form with all national deviations. You
can only buy a basic IEC TRF on iec web page. TRFs are available free of
charge if your laboratory is a member of CB scheme. You can ask your
certification body for support.

Each certification body and CBTL has access to on-line CB Bulletin on CB
scheme web page, where are published all national deviations. Therefore each
laboratory is including national deviations into IEC TRF.

I hope it helps.

Best regards,
Bostjan

You have to be very careful to email the right (anonymous) person.
Actually, the Customer Service centre now advises in their FAQ:

I have questions related to the content of a specific IEC publication
You will find below categories of technical questions and who to

But you will have to ask whether it includes all the national stuff.
