Re: Egon Vargu, where are you?
On Thursday I posted a request for the location of Egon Varju (stupidly misspelling his name as Vargu which is why I couldn't find him!), and in particular asking about the current availability of his invaluable transcript of CENELEC's List of Decisions re EN 60950, mentioned in section 2.4 of the s.e.e.c FAQ. Egon confirms he is no longer maintaining his former web site, and has kindly made the 1998 List of Decisions available which I have posted on my site as file: http://www.lyons.demon.co.uk/cenlec98.txt (34 kB) The FAQ will be updated appropriately in the next issue, due 15 Sep 1999. Thanks to all who have helped to put me on the right lines. Re: Egon Vargu, where are you?
Hi Egon, many thanks for your message, and apologies for my stupidity in mis-spelling your surname, naturally resulting in not known at this address! Regarding the Cenelec's List of Decisions, yes, I have cancelled my home page. Wasn't really using it (too busy with my day job), so it was a bit of a waste of money. Thanks for the clarification. In another message on this thread, Art Michael points to a URL that has some of these decisions. I took a quick look, but it doesn't seem to include EN 60950. If anybody wants a copy of the one I made up, I will be glad to send a copy by e-mail. Alternatively, if anybody wants to post this on an easily accessible web site, they are welcome to do so (We need a volunteer here. Art?). Just make sure the entire document is posted, including my disclaimer. I'd be very happy to put it on my personal (i.e. technical links) website www.lyons.demon.co.uk, which already has the ASCII versions of the FAQ files (Martin Rowe, technical editor of Test Measurement World, kindly HTMLises it and puts that version on his site). I already have a number of other useful documents on my site, which is distinct from (but naturally linked to) our commercial site www.claudelyons.co.uk - if you have the time, have a look. If you'd like me to do this, tell me where I can download it, or email it to me. Best regards, and glad to be back in contact. My full sig(s) below for reference. Bill. P.S. Re: Egon Vargu, where are you?
Hi Bill, The CENELEC CTL Decisions you seek are now (officially located and maintained) at: www.imq.it/ctldecisions/ Although still under construction, the site is already a valuable resource as it is indexed by Standard, Product Type, etc. NOTE: I believe that CTL decisions serve as guidelines only and have no official standing when one is dealing with a CB Scheme Test Lab's investigation of products. The printed standards are still the authority when questions arise. There is a link directly to this site on the Safety Link www.safetylink.com Just drop down to the Safety Articles, FAQs subsection where you will find it near the top of the list - or just search the Safety Link (using your browser's Find function) for the the acronym CTL to jump directly to it. As for Egon Varju (note correct spelling here); Try his CSA address which I expect is: var...@csa.ca Bill: THANX, as always, for your untiring efforts in maintaining this valuable resource for the product safety and emc compliance communities.
