Re: India Regulatory Complinace requirements

2007-05-16 Thread emc-p...@ieee.org
There are no mandatory safety/emc requirements for ITE in India. However, Wlan
have to be registered with the WPC.

I have heard about S-Mark for Safety, but I am not sure if it is must to have.

It is mostly done under STQC scheme, established by Indian goverment, but
their website is not clear regarding the standards or markings.

Any information will help.

Re: India Regulatory Complinace requirements

2007-05-16 Thread emc-p...@ieee.org
How do you prove there are no EMC/ Safety requirements when trying to import
your product into India to the authorities? Should you have a Self DOC stating
this is an ITE product in which there are no mandatory requirements for
India.?

Is there a voluntary Mark you should have on the product stating there are no
ITE requirements? Or should you just put the S Safety Mark on the product
stating compliance to a specific ITE standard ( 60950)

I'm always concerned with shipping products into countries that have no
mandatory EMC/Safety requirements thinking it may be stopped at Customs.

Has anyone ever had anyone/authority challenge their ITE product in India
based on the position there are no EMC/Safety requirements for India?

Thanks!

RE: India Regulatory Complinace requirements

2007-05-16 Thread emc-p...@ieee.org
My experience recently with the BIS web site is similar regarding set
top boxes. STBs are sort of androgynous, might be 60950-1 and might be
60065 or both, but India seems to have no safety requirements in the BIS
mandatory list.

Can anyone shed any additional light on applicable safety and EMC
requirements for an STB?
