Re: Ferrite Sleeving
Derek Walton wrote: I'm looking for sources of flexible Ferrite sleeving. Can anyone help? EMC Eupen is still selling it, I think, and CAPCON has already been recommended to you. I've looked at both of their products, and ended up not using them. The problem I have with ferrite impregnated sleeving (beside cost) is that it's not really flexible, and it isn't all that durable, either. When sufficient ferrite powder is added to an insulating binder, it makes for a friable material that crumbles easily when flexed, and with age, as plasticizers migrate. If it's made flexible and durable, there's not enough ferrite in it to help. This all can be managed if you get cables whose ferrite is part of an internal layer; it may crumble, but it can't get out. Such cables are being marketed. But ferrite sleeving on the outside is a bit of a headache. That's my opinion, anyway Cortland This message is from the IEEE EMC Society Product Safety Technical Committee emc-pstc discussion list.
