RE: LVD testing suite for ITE devices
For Ethernet ports you may also want to consider the high-voltage isolation requirement specified in the IEEE-802.3 Ethernet specification. I found that Ethernet isolation is usually not required as part of the EN60950 certification process but it may be a good safety feature to consider and can improve product reliability as well. From: Douglas Beckwith@MITEL on 08/31/2001 04:59 PM The standards for North America are CSA C22.2No60950-00 or UL60950-00. The standard for Europe is EN60950. I suggest that you get a CB scheme report and certificate for other parts of the world. For EMC is better consider EN 301 489-1 (generic radio) and EN 301 489-17 (specific parts for radio lAN)EN 300 826 will be witdraw next year. Paolo = Original Message From Wismer, Sam wisme...@ems-t.com = Hi Stuart, Sounds like your referring to a PCMCIA radio card that can be integrated into a host device. If so, you probably have an RTTE project that does also include the LVD. The test suite for this device would depend on the frequency band. If its 2.4 GHz equipment, then EN 300 328(Radio Spec), EN 300 826(EMC Spec) and EN60950(Safety Spec) would be the appropriate spec. All EN's so your customer can self-declare the device. Also, some say that EMF compliance may be required, although I have yet to have a notified body require that of me. The directive can be interpreted to include this. If you feel that it is required, there is no EN for it and you will need to use a NB. ~ Sam Wismer Lead Regulatory Engineer/ Radio Approvals Engineer LXE, Inc.
