Re: [Emc-users] The forum or not?

2009-07-13 Thread BRIAN GLACKIN
One reason I like a forum setup (in addition to the list and IRC) is that it
offeres a place to build a more coherent picture of a work in progress. In
addition, it helps document successes in one location. From that
documentation, one could more easily build a wiki for unique issues.

When a problem comes up, if one used the forum, that person could post a
link in IRC or the list to the work in progress with all attendent files and
attempted actions. Those more interested in the effort could carry on thier
work without losing the thread of discussion among other list emails or the
constantly scrolling IRC.

I see all three tools working in concert.

You really need to get your CAM program to insert these, no need to manually
edit the program everytime.

Using % at the beginning, and at the end of a file is a way to cause that
error to disappear.
However, using an M2 is encouraged.
The % is a reminescence from the day of storing programs on punched cards
and strip.
It specifies the end of a file, but doesn't close a program like M2 does.

Sure, pull it into a text editor and append the % character on the next line.
Then reload the file to emc.

Put a M2 as the last line of your program and it will go away.

[Emc-users] The forum or not?

2009-07-13 Thread Sven Wesley
Is the forum on the website supposed to be used or not? It's pretty secret
and not too obvious where to find it, but there's some activity there.
Running both a mailing list and a forum at the same time just increase the
places of discussions.

Sven
