One thing I noted for the same small schottky diode on 2 or 3 sites was
that the top link called it a 3 amp 40 PIV diode, but click on the link
and its a 20 PIV diode. With a 5 volt swing from the Bob, thats a never
mind, but it does tend to speak to the truth in advertising not being
100%. Same with FET's. Not being familiar with the current numerology,
I have no clue if they are enhancment mode (mosfet) or depletion mode
(jfet). Until they get here and I can fire up a couple of leads to the
BoB's output.

But its been about 13 hours and I haven't rx'd a shipping notice. Free,
by China Post. So I don't expect the galley will have a full complement
of rowers on board. :)

Is it REALLY quad-core, or is it two cores with the
ridiculous "hyper-threading" stupidity?
If it is really 2-core, then you want to turn off the
hyper-threading, it slows the available
virtual cores to 50% speed.

Hmm, not sure LinuxCNC can really use more than 2 cores,

Re: [Emc-users] is anyone here buyingbfrom aliexpress?

2015-12-22 Thread Gary Crowell
I've bought several dozen small (<$20) items from there. Delivery is
usually a week or so but sometimes just a few days; sometimes a few weeks.
I don't think I've ever not gotten an order. A lot of times I'll see some
gadget on Amazon or MPJA, Jameco, and then look on Ali to find the exact
same thing, at half the price, and usually with free shipping.

Technical specifications are usually sparse, and often wrong. Takes some
figuring out sometimes.

Generally I'd say it's worth it once you get past the odd signup and
ordering scheme.

a PS of sorts: I went back thru it all the 4th time, and managed to
complete the process, finally. I think what I was running into was the
size limit, 20 characters, I just checked the count and it was 23. The
captcha does display, but the server is slow so it takes a couple
minutes before it shows up here. Hell of a way to run a train IMO.

Now we get to see how long it takes to get here in the middle of the
holiday rush. Our USPO's 3 day priority express for small packages is
only 6 business days getting here from south Florida, perhaps 700 miles
away. Speedy, for an ox-cart. I've driven it in a looong day. :)
