I'm building from git, far more dependable than the buildbot, as the
armhf seems to be a crash-o-matic, I have a ups and a bigger psu on mine
so its uptimes are till the next reboot, which might be a couple months,
and it appears I need to redo a config someplace that a git pull isn't
getting, as I'm apparently not building the gladevcp stuff I see going
into a git pull here. It is getting into the documentation, but doesn't
seem to be available when I start it without the -l. No glade stuff in
the lathe tree in sim.

Does anyone know what I need to add and to where? And how to do it
without disabling git?

Something I can put into my build scripts IOW, which are outside of gits
view of things.

2021-01-15 Thread Ralph Stirling
Do you have an existing .ui file you can edit?
Glade-3 on the pi worked fine for me that way.
I haven't tried starting a ui from scratch with it.

If you haven't customized one before, start with
one of the sim examples that uses gladevcp.

What else do I need on the pi's. glade-3 runs the editor gui, but does
not see any widgets. And nearly everything is "ghosted".

That did the trick indeed! Now we just need one
more sentence added to section 3.1 of:
http://linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/gui/gladevcp.html

Thanks for the tip about apt-cache search too.

On my Pi "sudo apt-cache search glade" suggests "glade-3 - Glade for GTK+2"

So I think that "sudo apt-get install glade-3" should do the trick.

[Emc-users] Editing glade ui's on RPi

2021-01-15 Thread Ralph Stirling
Now that I have my 7i90 hardware working with
the RPi 3b+, I need to make some changes to my
Axis ui customizations. Gladevcp is present, but
not glade-gtk2, so I have nothing to edit the ui with.
Glade-gtk2 doesn't seem to be in the apt repository
either. The only reference I have found to this is a
sped-up video narrated in German, which doesn't
help me much.

Anybody overcome this one yet? The docs warn of
not using too new a version of glade-gtk2, so I suspect
glade-gtk3 is a non-starter.

Thanks again.
