Re: [Emc-users] fest
Ok, the address is 205 Roberts St. Houston, TX 77003. Bush Intercontinental Airport is about 20 miles dead north of us (but it's a pretty straight shot down Hwy 59 to get to us). As for lodging: What level are you looking for? I know there are places that range from seriously sketchy motels to full on five-star hotels within a 5 mile radius. There is a Hilton on the University of Houston campus about 2.5 miles away. Parking is free and should be adequate (especially if we can get that damned red bus...). We can open up the back yard if we have to. If folks want we can make the fest last longer than just the weekend or we can make it just during the week, we're flexible. How many days do the fests normally run? P.S. If anyone is local, we have open houses every Friday and Sunday if you want a tour (or to hang-out). Or send me a message if you want to come by any other time. On Fri, May 30, 2014 at 4:52 PM, Jack Coats j...@coats.org wrote: Someone want to organize it? In Wichita I start it on Monday morning and plan to be done on Sunday evening. People will arrive from Sunday evening and fhrough the week. Then people will be leaving from Wednesday evening through Monday morning. All in all it takes a good week to get everyone here, set up, work done, visiting done, tear down and go home. It has always been a very good rewarding time. A couple days will be fine for a lot of guys. A few - me - will think a couple days is a blink. Although, I am beginning to realize it is just a blink of your eyes between diapers and depends. :) On May 31, 2014 5:44 PM, Chris Kelley tensait...@gmail.com wrote: Ok, the address is 205 Roberts St. Houston, TX 77003. I am offering my shop. Located 13 Miles north of Toledo, Ohio. We are an active user of LinuxCNC not really developers, but would love to help in the process. Lake Erie is close by and the Islands can be a fun diversion as well as Cedar Point for an excuse to bring the family. Currently have three machining centers running Linux and looking to convert a mill. At 13,000 Square feet I am not huge but we can find the room as needed. I'd love to find a small project to do on an EDM system, since I don't have any experience with that sort of machining. I don't have a specific part or project in mind, though. Is there anyone who is coming who can bring one of these D510MO machines with the EPP problem? If I understand the situation, I may have a plan for working in partial cooperation with linux (basically: believe it about low address, but accept the user's word that the high-address configuration registers are available) but I don't have a system where I can test the code. I assume we'll be able to dig up both a pico card and a mesa epp card to test with. Jeff Gentle persons: I would be pleased to ship a D510MO board directly to Stuart for the fest. I could probably make a USC available even if I can't make it. It ought to pretty easy to override the test in, say, the ppmc driver and do the write to the config reg. It could be made a command line option. This makes a lot of sense to do it that way, I think. (I could even figure out how to code that myself!) Were you thinking of changing hal_parport_get() to do the overriding there? I guess that would perform it in just one place, so that also makes sense. Hey folks. I just found out that I should be able to go (yay!). There are two or three hotels near Stuart's place, ranging from $55 or so to $90 or so a night. I'm thinking of calling these places (at least the Days Inn and Hampton Inn) to see about group rates, so I'd like to get a count of people who might attend, and whether they'd need a hotel room. Please respond to this thread if you're thinking about attending, and also give some indication of when you'd be there, probability of going, and whether the prices I mentioned are too high/too low/just right :) Thanks - Steve Stuart Stevenson wrote: Gentlemen, I am setting up here to host a meeting from Thursday 21, May, 2009 thru Wednesday 27, May, 2009. A little less sure about dates and times, although I'll probably be there the entire time. The drive is a bit longer than I really want to do, and I can get a $200 round trip ticket from here to Kansas City MO (3 hours away from Wichita). Tickets to Wichita are _much_ more expensive - enough that I can rent a car and drive the three hours, so that is my plan. Anyone who wants to share the ride from KC to Wichita is welcome - I don't know my flight dates and times yet, but get in touch and maybe we can coordinate. $55 is much nicer than $90. Gentlemen, Today, Robert went to three hotels to check availability and price. He will go tomorrow to at least one more. He found the Best Western @ $73.00 + tax / day .
