OK so I'm green with envy. When I built my house 25 years ago I went
with propane. Propane and electricity are a toss up now depending on
what price you can get your propane for. I still do hot water with

Here in Weiser, Idaho, we had three weeks this winter where it didn't get up to
freezing. When the 'high' is 23F and it feels warm... The electric bill was
extra high that month because there was nothing for the heat pump to wring out
of the air so the emergency backup resistance (which wasn't futile) heater ran
almost constantly.

The last time we had such a cold spell was 1996. It finally broke on January
1st, 1997 with a sudden warming and lots of rain in the mountains. Warm temps +
rain plus a confluence of two frozen rivers (the Weiser and the Snake) = really
big flood. Fortunately my place is on the high side of the river. If the water
ever gets this high, everything from here to Ontario, Oregon would be under
water and I'd be looking for an ark.

Depends. Like CNC revolutionized machining, inverters drives have
revolutionized heat pumps. Inverter units like mitsubisi's hyper-heat
keep full heating capacity down to -15C (+5F). So an OLD air-source heat
pump in idaho might be a little nuts, but a new one can work fine and save
a lot of money over electric heat.

Happy Easter from down under, where the end of a week and a half between
30آ°C (86آ°F) and 36آ°C (99آ°F) here in the middle of the first month of
autumn (fall) was pretty much welcome. (Easy for me to say. With 12
cubic metres of firewood stacked under cover, I'm even ready if some of
that northern hemisphere snow finds its way down here. Though I'd race
for the camera if it ever did snow here, even at 600 ft altitude.)

Hoping that the extra chocolate rations help to stave off the cold up
there. (Sorry, Gene - you're probably not allowed a lot of that.)

I eat half a block (an ounce) of unsweetened a day. Chocolate, without the
sugar, is actually good for a lot of things that can ail one. Box of
Baker's sitting within reach right now. :)

Yes, I also want to thank the whole community of LinuxCNC developers, users
and even the occasional gadfly for this incredible project. Not only is
is a
business for me, but also something that I use in my own shop. And, the
original EMC (I) from NIST was what got me into Linux. I was always
a Unix hater, and still find a number of things that grate on me a bit, but
it gets the job done! (And, it is a hacker's paradise! I've always been
a hacker (in the good sense) at heart.)

So, merry Christmas and happy holidays to all, and a VERY good
new year!

What he said. I'll certainly add my +1. This list is in the top 5% of

head for the shop see how well its calibrated shortly.

Poor health is a bummer Peter, and I hope you get back to 110% quickly.
