Re: [Enigmail] Migration Screen Suggestion

This could be related to the fact that I use a hardware smartcard.

It seemed that the wizard exited correctly, and was successful at
importing all of the keys.  It just didn't associate them with the
matching email addresses.

Actually, the Enigmail migrator does exactly what you expected: if you
configured your account to use a key ID, it would set the key ID in
Thunderbird; if you configured your account to use the email address,
then Enigmail would try to find a key with a matching email address. If
such a key is found, then the key ID of that address will be configured
in Enigmail.

This looks like either the wizard did not complete successfully, or none
of the keys have a user ID with that email address.

[Enigmail] Migration Screen Suggestion

2020-10-18 Thread Perry Gibson
Hello there,

I recently upgraded Thunderbird, and had some migration issues from
Enigmail.  It has served me well for many years, so first thank you to
all of the developers and contributors over its lifespan.

You can see my issue, and its solution here
.

However, I think it could be avoided for many users who will be
upgrading over the next few months by adding some text on the Enigmail
migration screen that explicitly re-adding your key in your Account
Settings may be necessary.  I lost a fair bit of time to it, and would
prefer that others didn't.
