I tried it last night myself and didn't get that far... :( 'make' was
failing in regards to Evas.h. I did install 'evas v1.0.0' from E's
 website. I did './configure --enable-canvas-gnomecanvas
--disable-canvas-evas2' and the build summary looked good. No errors or
 complaints.

Use the rpms. I remember that the building process wasn't so successful
too. But when I use the rpm with a --nodeps option, it went in~

With kind regards,

On Gentoo ?? No thanks... I might download 'em and try rpm2tgz though.
What dependencies does the RPM have though ?? evidence can use lots of
new packages which I don't have and am hesitant to install. At least
with compiling from source, I can tweak it to NOT use things I don't
have and what not.

Re: [e-users] Loading of special fonts for new 16.6 themes?

2003-11-16 Thread John C
question, is there any specific configuration file to edit to have
access to the fonts I just extracted from the tarball?
Thanks for posting the themes and fonts, but I'm not quite sure I know
how to have access to the fonts, although I know E will find the themes
right away...
Thanks, John C.

[e-users] menu regeneration causes E 16.6 to crash...

2003-11-16 Thread John C
Hi all,
I was just wondering if anybody had the same problem...
After every menu regeneration completes, E seems to have a problem with
the menus... and even if the apps menu opens properly, the settings and
enlightenment menu open with a blurry background and the items are
scrambled...
Plus the applications I want to start through the apps menu don't launch
at all, nor any action, I have to use the keyboard shortcuts to log out
and then back in for E to work right... If someone has an explanation
and/or a patch to fix this, I'll gladly update. I'm running E 16.6
release 1 on a laptop with RH9 and a custom compiled kernel. I have to
use the VESA driver due to an incompatibility of X and my graphics
chipset, but I have no other problems aside from that. Thanks for the
feedback,
John C.

Thanks, John C.
The tarball produces a folder called myfonts containing all the fonts. Move
that folder to where your X server stores fonts and add that location or
fontpath to your /etc/X11/XF86Config[-4]. This location may be something
like those below.

/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/
/usr/share/fonts/
Then go into the directory 'myfonts' and run `mkfontdir` and `mkfontscale`
and restart your XServer to load new fonts. Now view the file fonts.dir in
the 'myfonts' folder. The second column for each line contains the keyword
that you must feed to Eterm. So for the line which says 'mints-mild.pcf.gz
mints-mild' you can do `Eterm -F mints-mild` to get Eterm to use that font.
You can of course combine that with other parameters to Eterm to produce
the desired effect.

Thanks to Didier Casse's message on the online mailing list archive for
helping me get this working in the first instance.

HTH.

Dhruba.

I don't have such problems. First we'd like to better understand your
system. So I'd like you to answer the following:

(1) Your version of E is enlightenment-0.16.6-1.rh9, right? just to
confirm!
(2) What graphics chipset do you have?
(3) Why did you compile your default kernel? What feature(s) did you add
to it?

Maybe the answers could help find a solution.

With kind regards,

Didier.

Hall, why don't you ask Mike Frysinger [EMAIL PROTECTED]? He's

helpful. He would know better how to install Evidence on Gentoo.

I compiled latest cvs checkouts of entrance and evidence from source on
Gentoo yesterday. It went fine. Make sure you compile the dependencies in
the right order as on E homepage and with optional configure parameters as
specified in the readme files for each package rather than those online.
Most however, require just an autogen.sh, make and make install. I added
cflags being a die hard gentoo user but that was just for fun.

Try, try and try again and you will succeed!

Dhruba.
