[e-users] Can lock the screen, then Can't login anymore

2008-01-26 Thread giggz
Hi,

Since 2 or 3 weeks, when I lock the screen with ctrl+l, I get the lock
screen, but when I try to login on this lockscreen, I get an
authentificating and then nothing more. I must restart X with
ctrl+alt+del.
I'm under debian sid. do anyone have this problem or am I alone ?

Guillaume

Yes, it workerd for long but stopped some months ago.

I'll try to fix the code of the temperature module in the next days.

Hi,

I have this problem too under ubuntu 7.10, but this is strange because
sometimes the authentification works..
I don't know if it could be theme related, and didn't find any reason why it
sometimes works..

I'm having this too since I upgraded my gentoo box. PAM version is 0.99.9.0.

As Vincent said, auth sometimes works, sometimes not. syslog message
is not that meaningful (but I don't have it at hand now).

Work-around to avoid restart X, if you have root access, login using
terminal and add the following line at the beginning of
/etc/pam.d/xscreensaver:

   authsufficient pam_permit.so

Hmm, I think you give me a part of the answer ..
I don't have the file named xsceensaver but a gnome-screensaver one..
So it remember me this thing :
When I log directly in e17, my xterm don't read my .Xdefaults file (the
background is black), but if I launch totem for example and re launch xterm
the background follow what I write in .Xdefaults..
So, I tried this : log in e17 and ctrl+l = the authentification doesn't
work
log in e17 and launch totem then ctrl+l = authentification works..

Gustavo, what is supposed to do the line we should add ?

[e-users] HAL creates non-remobeable desktop icon

2008-01-26 Thread mynullvoid
Hi all,

After I installed ivman and HAL, I found that even my non-removeable partition
shortcuts shown on my desktop, and even it is shown, when I double-click the
shortcut, it shown empty content if the filesystem is ntfs.

At the moment I had disable HAL and IVMAN to get rid of those icons, but I
would love what ubuntu or knoppix have where all the drive will be shown and we
are able to mount it by double-click at the desktop shortcut.

1. How can I fix my HAL so that it only automount selected drive?
2. Can I have like knoppix or ubuntu have where we can mount any drive by
double-click it and the partition can be mounted and any type of filesystem
will be shown.

Please assist.

Thank you

Gustavo, what is supposed to do the line we should add ?

That one with pam_permit (avoid auth, just allow anything as
authenticated -- permit). It's not a solution, just a work around to
allow you to be back to work and not loose your unsaved files.

Possibly related: If I use totem my fonts go horrible, large, dotty and
multi-coloured, so I think these issues may be connected to that naughty
Gnome but which package I don't know possibly gnome-settings-daemon? Killing
the gnome processes does not resolve the problem but restarting X does.

IIRC when you launch totem you automatically launch
gnome-settings-manager (IMO a terrible habit of multimedia players, they
start gnome-settings-manger just to get the multimedia keys working.
Dunno why they don't let me decide how I want to do this. Exaile and
Listen do that as well). You'll probably also notice your fonts changing
etc. What does /etc/pam/gnome-screensaver say? What you could try is
copy it to /etc/pam/xscreensaver and change all occurences from
gnome-screensaver to xscreensaver. About your Xdefault settings. I
remember I had some issues like this before. I'm using ~/.Xresources
now, so maybe try copying your .Xdefaults file to .Xresources if that
doesn't work let me know I might have changed something in my gdm
setup.

[e-users] Problems compiling libraries (evas/ecore/edje)

2008-01-26 Thread Fernando Gerent
Hi everyone,

I've been trying to update my E17 installation and I'm having some problems.
I'm using yesterday's CVS (which I believe is the same as the most recent
snapshot).

Eet compiled ok, but evas gave me some errors about gdk-pixbuf not finding
glib.h, so I used '--disable-image-loader-svg', and it went ok.
But when I tried to compile ecore, it complained about missing evas_gl_x11,
evas_sdl, etc, so I went back and recompiled evas with '--enable-gl-x11
--enable-sdl --enable-fb'.
Now ecore compiled, but only after I linked the Ecore_sdl.h from
src/lib/ecore_sdl to src/lib/ecore_evas, because make couldn't find it.
Efreet and embryo compiled ok, but edje gave me the following error:

/usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slamd64-linux/4.1.2/../../../../x86_64-slamd64-linux/bin/ld:
cannot find -lecore_sdl

So I went back to ecore and tried compiling it with '--enable-ecore-fb
--enable-ecore-sdl', but it errors out with: make[4]: *** No rule to make
target `-Wl,-rpath,/usr/lib', needed by `libecore_evas.la'. Stop.

I'm running Slamd64 12.0 with a 2.6.24 kernel.

Does anybody have any idea on how to solve this problem?

Also, maybe there's something wrong with my configuration that's causing all
these problems, but wouldn't it be better if the required modules/options
(specially ecore's) were compiled by default? I mean, if this is the
standard behavior, you can't compile E17 and all the libraries with just
./configure (autogen.sh), make and make install, and also the README's and
INSTALL's don't mention anything about it.

Thanks

Re: [e-users] easy_17.sh successful on Fedora 8, fails on RHWS 4

2008-01-26 Thread Geoffrey
I've done a little research on this and it appears that PKG_CHECK_EXISTS
is supposed to be an m4 macro, but I can't find any reference to it. I
have located the PKG_CHECK_MODULES macro in /usr/share/aclocal/pkg.m4

So, I'm assuming this is an issue with Red Hat Workstation 4 and
possibly the use of a deprecated macro? I'm reaching here, since I
don't play with m4 macros.

Anyone have any ideas, suggestions?

Geoffrey wrote:

 the following error:

./configure: line 22512: syntax error near unexpected token `libpng12,'

Looking at the configure code I see the following:

Pretty complex scripting there, but at first glance, I don't see the

I can't find where PKG_CHECK_EXISTS is defined though.

 Any suggestions would be appreciated.
