[e-users] Newbie problem
I just installed Arch on a my new laptop and was trying out Enlightenment (current Arch repository versions). Whenever I run Elementary, after a while it (Elementary) always locks up--doesn't respond to any keys or mouse. I can simulate the problem by immediately pressing a backspace when I first load it. I can do other things in Enlightenment including starting new Elementary instances, but eventually they always lock up. It's possible it is always caused by backspace although pressing backspace doesn't always cause the problem unless I type it first thing. Anyway, I have to manually kill the Elementary instances for even the title bar doesn't respond. I've done searches and not found anyone else having this problem. My old wm I've used for years, pekwm, works fine so I have no reason to suspect a hardware problem. Any ideas or suggestions? -- What NetFlow Analyzer can do for you? [e-users] newbie to enlightenment and I have a keyboard issue and another question
I'm running Fedora rawhide with LXDE and am trying enlightenment as the Window Manager for the first time and it seems pretty cool but I have a couple of problems that I can't seem to get around (and maybe it's related to running E and LXDE together, I'm not sure). My first problem (and maybe the real problem) is that upon getting LXDE and E running I see a white line across the middle of the screen. That white lines seems to be some kind of demarc between virtual screen and non-virtual screen. If I hover over it I get an LXDE panel at the bottom of the screen; as soon as I move off the white line the E shelf shows at the bottom as expected. The second issue is that no matter what I start up (xterm, lxterminal, Firefox, Thunderbird, etc.) I get *no* ability to type in them. I've tried switching focus models to be mouse-over, click to focus, etc. but it appears that my focus is lost and I don't know where the focus might be. I've had to switch back to a different WM until I can get this figured out. I'm hoping that some of you might have seen this behaviour before. I'm trying to run enlightenment-0.17.4-4.fc21, FWIW. Is it also possible to have on the Main menu submenues like I have with windowmaker? Thanks in advance if you can help. So far no problems with fonts or anything else. Re: [e-users] [Newbie] Customize the look feel of applications
You can't just use ETK on GTK applications, you have to rewrite them, and that's no easy task. If you want gtk apps to match your E theme, find a gtk theme that matches as closely as possible, and use it. Google for gtkrc, there are some programs to set it accordingly if you don't want to do it manually. Re: [e-users] [Newbie] Customize the look feel of applications
Cedric, I usually use run gtk theme manager to get the themes for firefox and pidgin to look as I want them to; usually something rather clean and simple to go with the theme I use in E17. I know that the ETK is being worked on; and I don't think applications that do not use the EFL for their base reconginize them ie Firefox, pidgen etc. I could be wrong though, a developer maybe able to fill you in further on using ETK for those applications. -Jonathan On 2/14/08, Cédric Tabin [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi there :) I just installed Enlightenment E17 from CVS and it runs perfectly ! [e-users] Newbie using Didier E16
Hello List, I have just begun using enlightenment. I am currently using e16 from didier's yum repository. I then got the e16-epplets-base off of sourceforge and did a simple configure; make; make install. It appears that the epplets were installed in /usr/enlightenment. I can not get any of the epplets to show up in the menuing system and when I execute and epplet from the command line I get an error regarding that the epplet can not create epplet-config in ~/.enlightenment/.. Which with the didier rpm the user config directory is .e16. I have also installed the e17 development and wasn't sure if that may be confusing them. I have added /usr/enlightenment to my PATH but no resolve. Any suggestions on the best way to get the epplets to work with this install? Hi, If you already installed/compiled Entrance, the you just need to configure it (which is recommended but not necessary), using $ edb_gtk_ed /etc/entrance_config.db So that you start Entrace when you boot, you need to change in /etc/rc.conf the variable DISPLAYMANAGER=entrance HTH, Fernando On 8/19/05, Alejandro Salas [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi everyone,I just compiled e17 and entrance with the get_e.shscript from rasterman website. [e-users] newbie: Solaris 2.9, Ultra 5, e16 installation problem
I'm having problems getting enlightenment to work on my machine. My current working environment is gnome-2.0, started from dtlogin on my Solaris 2.9 box. I have downloaded the enlightenment packages for Solaris, and installed them, and, after adding /usr/local/enlightenment/bin to my PATH, and /usr/ucblib to my LD_LIBRARY_PATH, I got the window manager to come up. But, the colors/pixels were completely screwed up and completely unreadable. So, I next downloaded the source and compiled it up and installed it. Then, I found the enlightenment.install in the scripts directory and ran it. Then, when I start up gnome 2.0 from my dtlogin, it starts enlightenment, but then it pops up a (very readable :-) dialog box saying that enlightenment has a Bus Error. I have to exit then... Questions: 1. any ideas on why the Bus Error? Any way for me to diagnose it further? 2. Where in the documentation should I have seen the instructions to run the enlightenment.install script. Please feel free to flame me if I haven't read the correct document, and that document is in an obvious place. 3. Any ideas on why the out-of-the-box pkg didn't work? Thanks. Vic __ Do you Yahoo!? Actually, they're linked from the source page. Go on the source page and it'll be linked there as Build Notes -- READ THIS!. Hallo let's try to find some solutions... 1) I will use idesk to create icons? How can I start this automatically during the start of E. I searched for a kind of enlightenmentrc but I didn't find it. The file you search for is ~/.enlightenment/...e_session-XX.snapshots.0 In this file there are listed the parameters for applications which you have remembered (ALT+rightclick, choose remember) or for this who did this automatically (for example iconboxes, pagers etc.) But you can also edit this file with an editor and add some lines: -snipp- NEW: transparent.Eterm NAME: transparent CLASS: ETERM DESKTOP: 0 RES: 1280 1024 WH: 394 179 XY: 3 2 0 0 LAYER: 2 STICKY: 1 SHADE: 0 BORDER: BORDERLESS CMD: Eterm -0 --scrollbar=false --name=transparent --borderless -snapp-- This creates a transparent Eterm, on top-left corner of all virtual desktops with a size of 394x179 pixels, which is allways under every other window (the Layer option). Or quite simple: -snipp--- NEW: xscreensaver NAME: xscreensaver CLASS: xscreensaver CMD: xscreensaver snapp- 2) After some time I get confused by the pure amount of windows. There is no tasbar for overview - or is there a possibility to have a look on started apps. I mean a kind of a iconbar not only for iconized apps. I don't know one I use 4 virtual desktops (2x2) and the pager shows every application then Or try ALT-TAB to switch between the applications. 3) Is there a possibility to use a start panel?
