[e-users] Desktop fading to black

2014-02-13 Thread David Moylan
I've had this issue a few times where the desktop fades to black,
however the mouse is still visible. The mouse also changes to pointer
when scrolled over certain elements even though I can't see them. I
can't find any key commands to bring the desktop back to normal. I've
been having to drop to a terminal and restart E. Any ideas?

Maybe try disabling xscreensaver and see if that helps?

that's screensaver kicking in, and any mouse move or key press should trigger a
screensaver end event from x whcih should trigger the screen to fade back to
normal. that's what the code is built to do. now does the screensaver end event
come? i don't know. the obvious issue is the screensaver end event doesn't come
and thus your problem, but only way to prove that is to print a log every time
such an event comes and you check your log at that time. you'd need to change
e's code to add that log.

you could try ctrl+alt+end to restart e to get yourself back to our desktop...
