Re: [EuroPython] Getting to the conference
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi Joe, There's a railway station at the airport that'll take you into Pisa from where you'll be able to grab a train directly to the centre of Florence. The conference hotel is 15-20 minutes walk from there (I walk fast). ;-) I'm doing exactly this journey tomorrow. N. Re: [EuroPython] Getting to the conference
Alternatively there is a shuttle bus from the airport to the Firenze SMN station [1]. From there you could either walk or take a bus. I will probably try line 23A tomorrow and jump off at ZECCA VECCHIA. Curious how this will work out this year :-) [1] http://www.ataf.net/en/timetables-and-routes/timetables-and-routes/volainbus---airport-shuttle.aspx?idC=710LN=en-US On Sat, Jun 30, 2012 at 6:37 PM, Nicholas H.Tollervey nt...@ntoll.org wrote: -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi Joe, There's a railway station at the airport that'll take you into Pisa from where you'll be able to grab a train directly to the centre of Florence. Re: [Europython-improve] [EuroPython] getting to the conference site
2008/6/3 Aistė Kesminaitė [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Last year we payed twice as much for the way from the airport to the hotel, than the other way around. Compared to what you'll have to pay in Birmingham, it's a no-brainer and I got ripped off there as well, again going from the airport to the hotel - looks like a systematic problem :-). It's not a systematic problem, but the way the charging works, you pay double price per km (or about that) if you get a taxi from the street rather than calling it and it's an official charging scheme, not a ripoff. The hotel calls you a taxi thus you end up paying less per km. So, if one arrives at the airport, is there a number one should call, or could you even call the hotel to arrange a taxi? Every taxi firm has its own number. Here are prices and numbers for some of taxi firms: http://www.etaksi.lt/en/default.aspx?page=pricescompanyweb=14 It is half english site so here is rough translation: Vienkartinis mokestis už įsėdimą - Payment for sitting into taxi Už nuvažiuoto kelio 1km mieste - price for 1 km in the town/city Už nuvažiuoto kelio 1km užmiestyje - price for 1 km in the rural area Be iškvietimo telefonu 1km - price for 1 km if you just sit into taxi I have not much experience with taxi in Vilnius but one my colleague from India had no problem using Martono taksi (short mobile number 1422). Merselita rings a bell as well for me (phone 1444). Technically you can use any 14xx combination and you will call taxi but I don't promise that you will call Taxi that is in Vilnius ;-) Here is list of 14xx serie - check numbers marked with TAXI http://wiki.partner.biteplius.lt/doku.php/lt:takenshortnumberslt I will add soon some photos and information about micro-buses (that might be good and cheap choice as well).
