A really good book on GM culture is "The Car that Could" by Michael Shnayerson

Re: [EVDL] Duosida Charge handle frustration

2020-04-15 Thread Rod Hower via EV
I had a short circus event on my 2014 Chevy Volt while plugging in the
Chargepoint plug about 3 weeks ago.  It literally shot plasma out the space
between the hood/fender and door fender.  GM corporate go involved and said
they would not cover it since the car did not catch on fire!  So I told them my
plan was to sue them since an event like this should not have happened.  The EV
technician from the local dealership called about 20 minutes after I talked to
GM and told me they didn't plan to cover it, but GM's technicians would now get
involved and determine if it's a warranty issue.  The charge plug was replaced
the previous year under warranty/recall, so I'm wondering if they screwed
something up at that time.Regarding this thread, the Chargpoint J1772 is more
difficult to plug in than my Chinese charger J1772 I use at home.  They're
about the same age (3 years) and I'm the only one that uses that Chargepoint at
the downtown Kent Central Parking Garage in Ohio.

wiggling to get it in and out of my Volt.  I tried a dremmel tool and it is
still too tight.

What is the problem?  Is it the diameter of the plastic around the pins? or
the outer diameter of the inner surround, or the inner surface of the outer
ring?
