I am one of those owners that seems to like his Bolt. I’ve had it for a little 
over a year and it is a far better car and EV than my previous Nissan Leaf. I 
even like it better than than Honda EVPlus I had from 1997 through 2003.

At least they are selling their cars now so they can't take them back 
and crush them. And drivers seem to like them.




I found it more worrying that they are talking about having their cars 
developed and built in China.


That also bothered me as I have tried for years to buy American made 
products whenever available. Perhaps current administration will weigh 
in on the China policy.

Reading the last of the original post, copied below, it would seem Mary 
has made a lot of positive progress in just a few years. If not thwarted 
by political pressure she may be able to continue in her environmentally 
correct direction. I love the Tesla but don't think the EV movement 
should be a competition between them and other vehicles. Collaboration 
to make the ICE an obsolete technology would be better.



According to Reuters, the Chevrolet Bolt was the first mass-produced
electric vehicle to go more than 200 miles (320km) between charges, and 
sell under U.S $40,000.


GM sold 23,297 Bolts in 2017 while Tesla produced 1,770 of its U.S 
$35,000 Model 3, well short of the company’s original targets.

According to Reuters, GM chief executive officer Mary Barra has made a
promise to investors that the company will make a profit on selling EV by
2021.

In November 2017 at a Wall Street function hosted by Barclays, Barra told
analysts that GM is developing an all-new platform for battery electric
vehicles that is different to the one currently used in the Bolt EV which
will lower production costs and make the vehicles more profitable.

“One of the things we'll be doing is structurally integrating the batteries
into the architecture. This will allow us to take out cost and gives us
better flexibility from a design perspective,” says Barra.
