Re: [Evolution] Bugs with devel snapshot

OK, here's the back trace. I'll go over to bugzilla and add it there
too.

To answer your question, no, I'm not using SSL.

Let me know if you need more/different info.

Thanks for your help.

If you can, attach to the evolution-mail program, and get a backtrace of
 all threads.

 i.e.
 ps | grep evolution-mail
look for the process id which doesn't have a parent process id of

 gdb evolution-mail pid

[Evolution] Bugs with devel snapshot

2002-07-22 Thread Mark Logan

Howdy,

I've been seeing 2 problems for the past few weeks.

First of all I've been getting a freeze several times per day. I'm
using IMAP and evolution will freeze requiring a killev and restart to
get going again.

The messaged displayed when hanging is:
Fetching summary information for new messages (100% complete)

It doesn't freeze every time it fetches the summary information, but
when it does freeze, that's where it is.

Second (and fairly minor), dragging and dropping to the shortcut bar
seems to be somewhat broken. If you drag from the message view directly
on to the destination folder, it works. If you drag on to the shortcut
bar and then try to move up and down to the destination folder, it won't
let you select the correct folder.

Let me know what information you want/need to help debug.

Thanks,
Mark

Re: [Evolution] Getting evolution to open galeon in gnome 2

2002-03-25 Thread Mark Logan

I'm not sure this has to do with Gnome 2. I'm running Mandrake 8.2 +
some Cooker, with the 1.0.2.99 (200203130901) evolution - and as of last
week this has started happening to me. I've had no problem starting
Konqueror for the past 6 months, and now all of a sudden, Galeon is
starting up. Gnome Control Center still says the URL handler is
Konqueror.

I don't know if this is an Evolution problem, a Gnome problem or a
Mandrake problem. If anyone has any ideas of what I can check to narrow
down the problem, let me know.

Evolution uses a gnome function to launch a web browser to view a URL so
you need to configure this option in the GNOME Control Center.

[Evolution] Crash in latest snapshot

2001-10-23 Thread Mark Logan

Howdy,

I installed today's snapshot (0822) and when I tried to move a message
from the inbox to another folder I got a great big Kaboom! It happened
as the list of folders was trying to draw itself. I was using the
'move' menu item.

Is this a known issue? If not, what details would you like?

Thanks,
Mark

Re: [Evolution] How to use latest snapshots on Mandrake 8.1

2001-10-01 Thread Mark Logan

I've been keeping track pretty closely with Cooker (now 8.1) and the
Evolution snapshots (RedHat 7.0). I haven't had any problems except
with libgtkhmtl15 dependencies. I have all Mandrake stuff except for
what comes in the daily snapshots. Caution: Fredric doesn't seem to
think it is a good idea (or didn't a few weeks ago), but everything has
been fine in my experience.

If you want a list of particular packages, let me know

Will the RedHat 7.1 snaps work on Mdk 8.1? Anyone doing this? Any prequistes
I'd need, to go from the Evo 0.13 that comes with Mdk 8.1, to the latest
snapshots? With RC not working, I'd have to manually FTP them off Ximian's

[Evolution] Contact problems

2001-09-12 Thread Mark Logan

Howdy,

I got sick of not being able to edit my contacts so I decided to follow
a previous posters' advice and export my contacts to VCard and then
re-import them. I found a few issues:

- Right clicking on a contact and then trying to select 'Save as VCard'
you have to click on the menu item twice. This seems to be true for all
of the menu times.

- The Save As... dialog opens in the root directory - and if you try to
export a second VCard it doesn't remember the directory you were last
ing, it goes back to /

- A file extension is not added to the file name specified. They are
VCard files so they should have a .vcf extension.

- I know this is gnome and not Evolution, but can SOMEONE please create
a Save As dialog that doesn't delete the file name if you dare to change
directories. How this bug/feature can exist for so long I just don't
understand.

- I first selected all of my contacts and exported them into a file.
When I tried to re-import them it failed.

- I then exported each of my contacts separately and tried to import
them one at a time. This failed too. In both cases all I got was a
dialog box saying 'Error loading /home/mlogan/tmp/vcards/al.vcf'

- I created a new contact and exported it. I then deleted the contact
and tried to re-import it. No good.

- I selected a contact and tried to Forward Contact. This hung
evolution. When I did 'killev' the compose window popped up briefly and
then disappeared (of course, since I killed it). After restarting
Evolution and hitting compose, the Forward Contact compose window showed
up (good thing).

- After receiving the 'Forward Contact' email, I was able to
successfully save the contact into my address book. However, there is
really no feedback after you hit the 'Save Contact in Addressbook'
button.

This was all with today's snapshot (9/12) on Mandrake 8.0 with a bunch
of Cooker stuff built in.

If any more info is needed, please let me know.

Thanks,
Mark

[Evolution] More Contact Problems

2001-09-12 Thread Mark Logan

Hi again,

Just an addendum to my last message.

- I selected all contacts (including a couple of contact lists) and did
a 'Forward Contact' to myself. The message arrived with an attachment
that said 'address card attachment, Multiple VCards. When I saved it
in my address book it saved them all as a contact LIST with the name of
one of the contacts as the name of the list. Now, I will admit that
this would be an easy way to create an email list, but I think I would
prefer to be able to send multiple separate contacts in a single
message.

[Evolution] Spell Checking

2001-06-08 Thread Mark Logan

I was wondering if anyone has managed to get spell checking working on
Mandrake 8.0. I have the latest pspell, aspell and gnome_spell

happen. Anyone have any suggestions?

OK, I'll try the next snapshot that I find and let you know if it is
working. Until then I'll just keep hitting 'Send Later' and restarting
Evolution :)

Since we're talking about it, hitting Send Later, after getting the
error, crashes or locks up the app about 50% of the time.

only sends 1 message at a time and then destroys the smtp object (or so
that code thinks) yet it is not actually destroyed because somehow some
other section of code has a reference to that object as well, so when we

I'm wondering if this is a 0.10 bug and that it might be fixed in the

 other section of code.
