I'm adding Evolution-GroupWise to the retiree list, since it no longer

Haven't heard any objections so I take that to mean consent from the
rest of the team. I don't plan to release any more 3.5 tarballs for
these packages but I'll sit on the announcement until after the dust
 from the account-mgmt merge settles.

There were some good amount of changes in groupwise source code post
3.5.1 release. These changes were committed by Chen and this will enable
user to use imapx for emails and soap protocol for calendar/address
book. I would request you/Chen to release 3.5.2 tarball for
evolution-groupwise last time.

Thanks,
Akhil

Re: [Evolution-hackers] Nitpick for a mailing list admin

Hi Matthew,

Akhil, are you still a mailing list administrator? The subscribe pages
on mail.gnome.org list you and pg...@novell.com but I don't know who
 that is.

Parag (pg...@novell.com) used to be Evolution team manager in Novell.

Anyway, I noticed a typo on the evolution-list description [1]:

General discussion and user queries of the Evolution

We need to remove the word the:

General discussion and user queries of Evolution

Thanks, i have corrected it.

But it brings up the larger point of who's managing our mailing lists
these days and can Chen and I get in on that so we have a bus factor 1?

So far, i have been handling mailing list admin stuff for both e-l and
e-h. I have removed my self and have given admin rights to both chen and
you. I will share password in separate email.

Regards,
Akhil

[Evolution-hackers] [Announcement] Bug Day : Sept 30, Oct1

2010-09-21 Thread Akhil Laddha
Hi all,
You may remember we had a bug day six months back just before the
final release of Evolution 2.30.0 and we are gearing up again for yet
another bug day just after release of Evolution 2.32.0. This time again
we will be doing triaging for two consecutive days.

Evolution, like any other gnome module, has gone through many code and
design changes as part of GNOME 3 clean up as well as to improve the
functionality in last one year. So it's a good time to dig old bugs, do
clean up, pick and target right set of bugs for next release which
hopefully will be Evolution 3.0.

Goals of Bug day

* Bug triaging
 - Identify list of important bugs for next stable release
 - Clean up of old and untriaged bugs

We will be mainly targeting bugs filed against Evolution 2.28.x and
2.30.x and will triage all the bugs against Evolution 2.32.0 stable
release which is scheduled to be released on Sept 29, 2010 as per GNOME
2.32 schedule.

What does it mean for you?
Bugs (Evolution 2.28.x and 2.30.x) which are most likely fixed in
Evolution 2.32.0 will be closed as Fixed or may be needinfo-ed to
reporter to get his response with current stable Evolution 2.32.0

People who are new to bug triaging, please read below URLs and it's a
good chance to start contributing to bug triaging.

(a) http://live.gnome.org/Bugsquad/TriageGuide
(b) Andre's Blog :
http://blogs.gnome.org/aklapper/2006/11/03/evolution-bug-triaging-information/

We will be concentrating on tagging bugs with suitable white board
status [1] besides moving them to right component, setting right bug
summary.

Please join us in #evolution channel on irc.gimp.org on bug day and help
us cleaning Evolution bugs.

Happy Triaging,

- Akhil

[Evolution-hackers] Bug Day : March 25-26

2010-03-21 Thread Akhil Laddha
Hi all,
After a gap of almost two years since we had an official bug
day, we all are gearing up again for a bug day on March 25 and 26.
As per the past experience, one day seems to be short for a bug day so
we have decided to continue triaging for two days.

Goals of Bug day

* Bug triaging
 - Identify list of important bugs for next stable release
 - Clean up of long pending bugs

We are planning to triage bugs filed since Evolution 2.24.x against
upcoming stable release of Evolution 2.30.0 which is scheduled to be
released on March 31. So all bugs will be triaged against the stable
version.

And who are new to bug triaging, these URLs will provide them a
guideline

(a) http://live.gnome.org/Bugsquad/TriageGuide
(b) Andre's Blog : http://blogs.gnome.org/view/aklapper/2006/11/03/0

Please feel free to tag bugs with white board status as well.
http://live.gnome.org/Evolution/BugzillaTopics

Please join us in #evolution channel on irc.gimp.org on bug day and help
us in making Evolution, a better product.

Happy Triaging,

- Akhil

 Hello guys,

This mail is to announce some of the role changes in the Evolution project. I
have been thinking about this for a long time, and I feel that this is the
 best time to implement them.

I am proud to announce Chenthill P (chen) as the new Evolution maintainer. He
is a long time contributor to the Evolution project and has been working in
the project for over 5 years. He is well known in the community for his
expertise in Calendar component and has been its maintainer for the last 4
years. He has been one of the prime contributors for the Groupwise provider
and Microsoft Exchange Calendar. A few of his notable contributions include
libical integration with System timezone for better Daylight savings support,
single-model-view design of Calendar MVC and removal of libical fork. He
has mentored interns and GSOC students on Calendar search improvements,
Microsoft Exchange Delegation support, Google Calendar integration etc.

I am also proud to announce that Matthew Barnes (mbarnes) is joining
Chenthill and support him as the Evolution co-maintainer. He has been
contributing towards Evolution for over 3 years and is the Mail maintainer
for the last 2 years. He has made significant contributions towards
obsoleting several libraries, and helping to migrate to newer technologies.
He has been working on Kill-Bonobo which is a major revamp of Evolution
Shell. This involves rewriting Evolution components and UI which is a focus
 area for Evolution 3.0.

Going forward, I will be focusing on improving evolution infrastructure for
netbooks and other devices; chen and mbarnes would be driving the Evolution
 project direction and releases.

Please join me in congratulating chen and mbarnes, and in wishing them good
 luck in their new roles.

 -Srini.
