IMS - Outbound Queue

2001-12-28 Thread Bollhofer, Mary I.

I have an e-mail message sitting in my Exchange 5.5 IMS Outbound Queue that
states [421 Resource Unavailable]. Where can I go to find out what
this 421 message means exactly?

GAL Web Tool Question

2001-10-26 Thread Bollhofer, Mary I.

I have installed the GAL Web Tool on an IIS 5.0 server (followed Q242223).
I then assigned the Human Resource group permission to the Directory
on the IIS server as well as to the virtual directory.
(Our firm decided that we do not wish to grant all our user's permission
to modify their own GAL entries. Only members of the Human Resource
department.)

When any member of the Human Resources uses the GAL Modify Web tool,
they are able to only modify their own entries in the GAL. When
they try to update any other entry, they receive a window which states the
following:

Microsoft Internet Explorer
Error Number 80070005
Error Description:
OK

The Error Description above is blank. There is no description displayed.

This error occurs when the user clicks on the Save User Info button after
modifying another user's GAL information. All of the members in the human
resource department can edit their own GAL entries but no one else's.
The Human Resource group permissions on the Folder that holds the ASP pages
is as follows:
Modify
Read Execute
List Folder Contents
Read
Write
On the Virtual Directory we are using Basic authentication only.

Does anyone know what I have done incorrectly or what I have left out?

PLEASE NOTE: IF I add the human resource users to the
EXCHANGE ADMINISTRATORS GROUP then they are able to edit any GAL entry and
do not receive the above error.

What kind of permissions do I need to give these members on
the Exchange Server Side of things? I DO NOT WANT THEM TO BE
MEMBERS OF THE EXCHANGE ADMINISTRATORS GROUP.

Please help.
Mary

Q - GAL Modify Tool (BORK)

2001-10-05 Thread Bollhofer, Mary I.

Exchange 5.5 with SP4 on a WinNT SP6a box.

I need to give only certain users in our Human Resource department
permissions to edit and keep up-to-date the information that is
contained in the GAL's General and Phone/Notes tabs without
installing the Exchange Administrator Program on their desktops.
I found out about the GAL Modify Tool today.

I don't understand it fully so, here are my questions/concerns:

1. My BackOffice 4.5 Resource Kit CD from TechNet is stamped
September 99. Would this be the correct CD to use or
should I be using a later version? The files on the
BORK CD GALMod32.exe display with a file version of
1.0.0.0 and a Private Build of 077.

2. a. When you double-click on the exe program you are prompted
for a
profile. Does the person from HR have to create a profile
for each User that they will be modifying?

b. Is there a better/faster way of adding these profiles for
her, so that she doesn't have to?

3. The user from HR is a domain user and she cannot successfully
modify anything that is listed in the General tab or in the
Phone/Notes tab properties.

She makes the change using the above program but it does not stick.

What am I overlooking?

a. Do I need to modify the attribute Access-Category to the
value of 2 on my Exchange 5.5 server?

The instructions were not very clear to me. They state the
following:
If you want users to be able to modify information other
than
Notes for either version of this tool, you must set
appropriate
permissions on the GAL properties.

b. If I want the HR user to be able to only modify the
Phone/Notes
tab, then according to the statement above, the
Access-Category does
NOT need the value changed to 2. Correct?

c. If I want the user to be able to modify items listed in the
General tab, then I would need to modify the attribute
for the Access-Category to 2. Correct?

The HR user that I was testing with is a domain user and she was not
able to modify anything in the Phone/Notes nor the General tab.

Please help. Thanks much!
Mary
