HELP: EXCH5.5 PFs permissions not working on Exch2000
Please help, I am in the process of migrating from NT and Exch5.5 to AD and Exch 2000. The migration is well under way (400 users so far) and we have had no real problems until now. It seems that once users are migrated to AD and Exch2000 they can no longer access Public Folders to which they were previously explicitly given access unless they are the owner. All Public Folders based on Default and Anonymous are fine. Upon further examination it appears that the MAPI permissions are not translating into AD permissions properly e.g. when you click Client Permissions on a Public Folder to view a long list of users with access you see everyone but if you CTRL click Client Permissions you only see the owners. AD is running in native mode, Exchange is running in mixed mode. All accounts were previously migrated from NT using ADMT and then ADC was used to update the Exchange specific information. I don't think anything went wrong during the setup as this seems to be the first and only problem. Any help or useful pointers would be much appreciated. Can't create large PDL in outlook XP
Please help, I am trying to create a large Personnal Distribution List on Outlook 2002 and am getting the following error message. The distribution list has reached the maximum size for your network e-mail server. No new members could be added. I can't find any information on this error on the Microsoft site or any settings that I can change. Has anyone had this before and if so how do you fix it. Odd ScanMail behaviour
I am currently in the process of evaluating Trend ScanMail v6 for Exchange 2000 and have hit an interesting problem. Basically I am not receiving any notification messages when I send a test virus. The email just sits in the users outbox and the virus is stripped and replaced with a text file. I would much prefer that the message doesn't sit in the Outbox but is instead returned to the sender with a notification that he sent a virus. I am not sure if ScanMail works like this by design or I am doing something wrong. I have enabled Mail to the ScanMail Administrator, Recipient Sender in the Virus Scan area of the notification tab. Everything else about the product is working fine. System Manager very slow to open
My Exchange 2000 System Manager takes 2.5 minutes to open (I'm not exaggerating) but it works fine once it is up and running. Does anyone know why. My PC is Windows XP (no SPs). Enterprise v StandAlone CA
I want to secure OWA for my users. I would like to setup an Enterprise CA for this purpose as it would integrate with AD and therefore will probably be more useful in my environment. However, I can foresee the need to enable secure emails in the future and am assuming I will be able to do this with with my enterprise CA. My only question is, is an Enterprise CA able to obtain certificates from Verisign etc. I'm assuming this would be necessary to encrypt a message that is going outside of the organisation. I'm still new to CAs and certificates so please keep the answer simple ;-) Thanks Again Imran Iqbal _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
HOW TO: Schedule a Meeting to a Public Folder
I have a number of Public Folders setup as calendars for meeting rooms. This allows users to easily browse through all of the rooms and find an available one. The rooms can also be booked by the user in the same way a user would schedule an appointment in his/her own outlook but by right clicking directly on the public folder instead. I now want to be able to book these resources when users schedule a meeting in outlook by adding it as an attendee. I know this can be done if the resource is setup as a mailbox but I would much prefer to have it is a PF. I now I can make the folder available in the GAL, how can I set it up so that it will automatically accept meeting requests. Thanks in advance Imran Iqbal _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

3 Public Folder problems
I was wondering if anyone could help with any of the 3 PF problems I am having below. I think all 3 are related and are symptoms of the same underlying issue. I am new to Exchange 2000 but have used 5.5 for many years. I am testing a migration. We are moving to a new domain but will be upgrading the Exchange Organisation. Problem 1 - No Free/Busy Information Migrated mailboxes are unable to schedule meetings with other users, even other migrated mailboxes. When you try to check someones availability it just comes up scored out saying free/busy information is unavailable. Problem 2 - Can't manage PFs from client PC. My Public Folder hierarchy has replicated over to the Exchange 2000 system manager successfully. However, if I try to check the properties on any folder I get an error saying 'An unhandled exception occurred' I can check the properties successfully directly from the server. The only folder that I can check are those that are in another 5.5 site that as yet has not got an Exchange 2000 server. Problem 3 - Can't see folder contents in outlook I am unable to view the contents of public folders in outlook unless they have a local replica on the Exchange 2000 server. Even if the mailbox has permissions to the folder. Views on Exchange Active Active clustering
We are currently an Exchange 5.5 site, as part of our move to Exchange 2000 I am considering setting up Exchange on a 2 node Active Active cluster and would be interested in hearing anyone views or real world experiences with similar setups. Each server would have about 800 active users and would probably be connected to a SAN for the shared storage. I have heard that there were memory issues with this setup pre SP3. I would like to know if there are any other problems and if it is worth doing Thanks in advance Imran _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
