alright Daniel could u guide me as to how eventually these files should be
deleted as i personally am not aware of any other method. secondly ,
sometimes if these files arnt deletd they pile up rapidly in the
c:\exchsrvr\imcdata\in folder reducing the free space down to 100Mb, which
eventually stops my MTA and other exchange services.
will wait for ur reply

Re: Error in imcdata\in

2001-12-07 Thread Daniel Chenault

Those files are most likely just piling up because the AV was locking them
and preventing the IMC from properly handling them. In normal operation the
IMC will delete the file on its own after successfully delivering the
message to the store.

Re: Error in imcdata\in

2001-12-06 Thread Daniel Chenault

No need for one really, but if I still worked there I'd write one.
File-level scanners work by locking a file open with exclusive rights to
scan it. Since the files in \mtadata and \imcdata\in|out are dynamic and
constantly changing, as well as constantly being opened and closed by the
owning process. This obviously will cause a deadlock problem. In point of
fact, scanning the \mdbdata directories (both logs and the EDB files) is
highly, highly advised against:(I think there IS an article on this).
