RE: SMTP issue with Sending as Public Folder
Ok, I gave that a shot. The message appears to be sent From the PF. As in the PF name appears in the From field in Outlook. The only reason I clarify is that I don't do much sending on behalf of, so I'm not sure how that normally looks. But as far as I can see, I'm successfully sending AS the PF. Even when I send to a hotmail address, the PF name appears in the From field. But when you view the SMTP header (earlier in the thread), you see my address in the Return-path field. Maybe someone with a minute or two on their hands could test this, sending as a PF on their server and viewing the header, see if you get the same behavior? Default = Author, Anonymous = None. There are no other perms specified. My guess is it's not a permissions problem - there are no errors or anything of that nature. If you are the owner of this PF, then you should be in this perms list as well, with account name = Owner. Not sure if this would make a difference, but do you have this set up as a moderated folder? If so, do all the posts that are sent to this folder automatically get sent to you for approval, before they get posted back to the folder? -Original Message- From: ExchangeList [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, December 12, 2001 9:38 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: SMTP issue with Sending as Public Folder Default = Author, Anonymous = None. There are no other perms specified. My guess is it's not a permissions problem - there are no errors or anything of that nature. Maybe this is just the way it works - but it seems kind of pointless to send as a PF if your address is going to show up in the mail header. -Original Message- From: Blunt, James H (Jim) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, December 12, 2001 12:26 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: SMTP issue with Sending as Public Folder On the Properties of the PF, what are the permission levels set to, for the Default and Anonymous entries? -Original Message- From: ExchangeList [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, December 12, 2001 9:26 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: SMTP issue with Sending as Public Folder I'm the Owner. As I've done for other lists (including this one), I've created a public folder to receive the list messages. I've given myself rights to send as the public folder, unhidden it from the GAL, and sent a subscription message to Bugtraq as the public folder. Bugtraq replies with a confirmation message, only it comes, not to the PF, but to my inbox.
