Re: Site connectors in Ex.5.5. Ex2000

2002-05-10 Thread RB

In the absence of the test lab and a white board I will have a go for you
but these two recommendations are valid.

By the way this is my first go at helping this list out so bear with me...

Answers below hope they help you.

Alec

Question: 1. Should I install SP6a prior to the upgrade?

Yes I would recommend it if you have other Exchange 5.5 servers as there
are documented issues regarding move mailbox wizard. You may use this to
move mailboxes to you E2k servers.

Situation: Second step is to install the ADC on my W2k server and install
1st Exchange 2000 server into my 5.5 site.

K'

I have a site connector to another site in ex5.5.

  1. Will I have to rebuild that site connector at that
time, or, only when I replace all my 5.5 servers in the site?

Only when you replace the servers responsible for the site connectivity
between those two sites (i.e if you have specified bridgehead servers)
Check the general and target servers tab in you site connectors.

  2. Will it stay in-place until I remove the 1st server in
 my ex.5.5 site?

Depends on whether it is the only server responsible for intersite
connectivity (see above answer)

  3. Will I need to create a connection agreement between
the other site and my AD?

Yes, the recommended model is that there is a set of connection
agreements per exchange 5.5 site. For example the recipient connection
agreement looks in the recipients container and you have one of these
per site.

In order for site connectors to work properly, do you need to have both
servers as BDC's in NT or DC in W2K?

OK, great.. Riddle me this.. I just upgrade my nt4.0 server w/ex5.5 to
Windows 2000
member server... Do i need to reconfigure my site connector to my sister
site? It was
initially setup for one-way trust. Do the site connectors use the MTA or
Internet Mail connectors?

Wha?!
Slow down and try again.
Is there a problem? If so, then what is it and what errors are being
seen?

Site connectors use the MTA like everything else.
