Numerical Code: 5.4.6
Possible Cause: Categorizer forward loop detected. targetAddress attribute
is set on a mailbox-enabled user. Hosting Pack: This is a common hosting
configuration problem when someone creates a contact in OU1 and creates a
user in OU2 with the same e-mail address via user provisioning tool.
Troubleshooting: This happens when contactA has an alternate recipient that
points to contactB which then has an alternate recipient that points back to
contactA . Check the contact's alternate recipient. Check and remove
targetAddress attribute from mailbox-enabled users. For hosting where you

RE: configuration question

2002-01-15 Thread Blunt, James H (Jim)

Jennifer,

Is that going to work? In his 8:35am post, he clarified that he was using
Ex5.5. Isn't the dsa.msc the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC
snap-in? Wouldn't he be using this only if he was running E2k? Or is Tim
so confused that he doesn't even realize what version of Exchange he is
running?

Have to admit, it sure looks like E2k to me, as I don't recognize the format
of the solution at the bottom of the numerical code error.

RE: configuration question

2002-01-14 Thread Tim McGrath

yes I have a client with a small business server running exchange. I'm new
to exchange and I'm having some problems. When you try and send them e-mail
you get an NDR. I found an article with the fix for it but I'm not sure how
to configure it here is the fix from the article

Troubleshooting: This happens when contactA has an alternate recipient that
points to contactB which then has an alternate recipient that points back to
contactA . Check the contact's alternate recipient.
Check and remove targetAddress attribute from mailbox-enabled users.
For hosting where you want to send mail from one user in one company (OU) to
another company (OU), you should configure the following two related
objects:
User: SMTP proxy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Contact: targetAddress: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; SMTP proxy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Sounds like the custom receipient address is wrong. Look for the globe

Clarify: Are you sending to a client running exchange that is not part of

RE: configuration question

2002-01-14 Thread Leeann McCallum

So, do the receipients exist or not? Are you pulling them from an old pab
or contacts list and their e-mail addresses have changed? I think a bug with
5.5 SP3 when sending to a group that had a deleted user in it used to come
back with something like that also. 5.5 or 2k?

yes I have a client with a small business server running exchange. I'm new
to exchange and I'm having some problems.

Check and remove
targetAddress attribute from mailbox-enabled users. For hosting where you
want to send mail from one user in one company (OU) to another company (OU),
you should configure the following two related
objects:
User: SMTP proxy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Contact: targetAddress: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; SMTP proxy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

it's 5.5 The receipents do exist, and there not coming from an old pab or
contacts list. The users for this company can send mail with out a problem
it's just when people try sending them mailI'm lost!!!

So, do the receipients exist or not? Are you pulling them from an old pab
or contacts list and their e-mail addresses have changed? I think a bug with
5.5 SP3 when sending to a group that had a deleted user in it used to come
back with something like that also. 5.5 or 2k?

it's actually happening to 3 people out of the 5 and it open happens
periodically. Sometimes you can send them mail and sometimes you get that
Reply??? The owner of the company set it up the server first and it was all
jacked up I've ironed out most of the wrinkles except this. Like I said I'm

Sounds like the custom receipient address is wrong. Look for the globe
thingy in your address book and check that's it's valid address if you are
forwarding a users mail externally. The article below reads a mail look to
me however.

Clarify: Are you sending to a client running exchange that is not part of
your exchange organisation? What does the NDR say? What happens when you
try sending not to the client's mailbox, but there supposed alternate

yes I have a client with a small business server running exchange. I'm new
to exchange and I'm having some problems.

Check and remove
targetAddress attribute from mailbox-enabled users. For hosting where you
want to send mail from one user in one company (OU) to another company (OU),
you should configure the following two related
objects:
User: SMTP proxy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Contact: targetAddress: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; SMTP proxy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

2002-01-14 Thread Leeann McCallum

Women don't tease. They merely take advantage of the weak nature, so often
exhibited by men, by lulling them into a sense of playful curiosity purely
for their own amusement.

I am guessing you saw this and your issue is you want to know how to fix it:

For hosting where you
want to send mail from one user in one company (OU) to another company (OU),
you should configure the following two related
objects:
User: SMTP proxy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Contact: targetAddress: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; SMTP proxy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Sounds like the custom receipient address is wrong. Look for the globe
thingy in your address book and check that's it's valid address

Leeann I totaly agree with you, but since we are weak minded males and have
trouble thinking with the head on our shoulders.we will just call it
teasing, that way we don't get confused! hahahhaa
