RE: Exchange Mailbox Setup
Yes, i mean to create one for a new user. Where would i assign the Exchange View Only Admin role? On the user or put the user in a group and assign it to that group? With just basic rights, the user can launch the MMC and add a new user. But if i tried logging on to a machine that has the added exchange features as that user, the MMC wont even launch. It says I dont have enough rights. So would I create a new group and give that group some kind of permissions to exchange and then add my user to that group? (sorry if the question sounds dumb!) bec. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Ed Crowley [MVP] Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 12:00 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Exchange Mailbox Setup Assuming by set up a mailbox you mean create one for a user account, the person needs rights to modify the user account itself, and then Exchange View Only Admin role for the administrative group. RE: Exchange Mailbox Setup
The question you ask is a very basic one for Exchange, which tells me that you need a class or self-study. You right-click the administrative group, then select the delegation option. RE: exchange mailbox setup
You could delegate someone necessary rights on the OU where the user accounts are going to be created. Plus Exchange View Only Admin rights on the administrative group, as Ed pointed out. -Original Message- From: becky [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 8:38 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: exchange mailbox setup What specific rights does a person need to have to set up a mailbox for a user? RE: exchange mailbox setup
Domain User rights are definitely not sufficient. -Original Message- From: becky [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 8:38 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: exchange mailbox setup What specific rights does a person need to have to set up a mailbox for a user?
