Yeah, that's happened to me too. I've installed ML7.1 maybe a dozen times (essentially the same each time) and sometimes kdesu is there, other times not. kf On Fri, 4 Aug 2000, Marco Fioretti wrote: = Hello, = = while setting up my LM 7.1 box, I decided to run = printerdrake (as root). So, what should we do? This doesn't look as an optional package, does it? Why does this happen, and what is the RPM to install it from by hand? Marco Yeah, that's happened to me too. Re: [expert] kdesu is missing.
Put your Installation CD in the drive mount -t iso9960 -o ro /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom cd /mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS rpm -Uhv kdesu then hit the Tab key, then the Enter key. Hit the tab key for filename completion and because I can't remember those long filenames. If this installs it (and it should), then get off the CD (just typing "cd" will put you back in your home directory) and unmount the CD (umount /dev/cdrom). hth, kf On Fri, 4 Aug 2000, Marco Fioretti wrote: = So, what should we do? Submitted 04-Aug-00 by Marco Fioretti: So, what should we do? This doesn't look as an optional package, does it? Why does this happen, and what is the RPM to install it from by hand? 1) install it :) 2) Sure it is. There are other packages that can do essentially the same. Take your pick. 3) You've got me there :) 4) /var/lib/games rpm -qf `which kdesu` kdesu-0.98-14mdk -- _ _|_|_ ( ) *Anton Graham /v\ / [EMAIL PROTECTED] /( )X (m_m) GPG ID: 18F78541 Penguin Powered!
Re: [expert] kdesu is missing.
it's most likely missing cause it never installed. You can install it if you know specifically which RPM installs that utility using kpackage logged in as root. -- Mark ** =/\= No Penguins were harmed | ** _||_ in the making of this | ** =\/= message...| Registered Linux user #182496 On Fri, 4 Aug 2000, Marco Fioretti wrote: Hello, while setting up my LM 7.1 box, I decided to run printerdrake (as root). Re: [expert] kdesu broken?
I've finally found what the problem with kdesu is. Or at least, what the cause is: kdesu doesn't work when root uses tcsh.
