Many of my family members are Stanford grads so I had to do some research into 
this one.  This is not a Stanford course, just fyi.  (No credits, no cost.) It 
was a part of a free series of lectures given in 2013-2014 and billed as a 
course affiliated with the LifeWorks initiative.  The reviews give a nod to Dr. 
Peeke! 

 LifeWorks is part of Stanford's initiative to provide students with 
perspectives and practices that help them deepen their educational experience 
and more successfully negotiate the challenges they face in today's world. Our 
courses and workshops respond to the call by the Study of Undergraduate 
Education at Stanford (SUES) for more adaptive and integrative learning that 
gives students the skills and capacities for living and working in a complex, 
accelerated, interdependent world.
 LifeWorks courses integrate the process of self-inquiry into traditional 
learning by combining scholarship with creative expression, mindfulness and 
other embodied practices. Our approach combines the latest discoveries in 
neuroscience, psychology, and education with the wisdom and practices of 
contemplative world cultures. Embodied practices like mindfulness, dance, yoga 
and improvisation help students reduce stress, focus attention and improve 
academic and athletic performance. Such practices support the development of 
self-understanding, heightened comfort with ambiguity, increased happiness and 
a greater acceptance of others. Creative expression through writing, the arts 
and other media engages students more intuitively and holistically, helping 
them assimilate learning in fresh and unexpected ways.

by Jerry62t I watched the first lecture by Dr. John Hagelin. I find it hard to 
believe that Stanford university actually associated itself with this 
anti-intellectual twaddle. This is truly proof of the adage that if you are 
considered an expert in a field you don't need any evidence of the things you 
say.

 Stanford credits for this... Really? (No credits-de)  
by Thierry M D Don't look for anything enlightning... Unlike the previous 
reviewer, with whom I agree though, I actually made it to the 4th video before 
giving up. This series is border line sect recruiting. Talking at length and 
mixing good science, that they have nothing to do with, to plug at the end 
their own mistic view and try to give it credentials in the process. 

Snake oil at best, it is amazing that Stanford would associate its name with 
this course, much less give credit for it. It should be reclassified under 
Entertainement at best...! Amazing also was the unwillingness to address 
questions from the few skeptics in the audience.

by Roger2014 Skip the first two lectures. Little or no science there.
Watch Dr. Peeke. She's interesting and you might pick up a point or two.

Mayor Ed Malloy invited me to have a private meeting with him to discuss Smart 
Meters, and I am so glad he did. Although I am not in favor of Smart Meters, 
much of the information being disseminated by those opposed to them is divisive 
and inaccurate. 

Ed has been working with Alliant since February, and Alliant agreed to an 
opt-out policy months ago, long before the group opposed to Smart Meters even 
existed. No petition for opting out is necessary, as Alliant has long agreed. 
Alliant also agreed long ago to let people keep their own meters. Therefore, 
much of the information being presented at the meeting tonight is inaccurate, 
incomplete, and misleading. As Ed has pointed out, we don't need petitions to 
force Alliant to do what they have long agreed to do.
 
The group opposed to Smart Meters is not telling people that if you opt out of 
Smart Meters you will have to read your own meters every month and follow a 
reporting process. You will have to pay an extra charge for this manual method, 
as it will be more expensive for Alliant to process the data.  This information 
is not being presented at tonight’s meeting.
If you choose for a Smart Meter, Alliant has agreed to program it so that it 
has a radio-wave burst only twice a day for a just a few seconds—and at the 
time of your choosing. This is far less damaging than wireless or a cell phone 
in your house. Alliant is really working well with Ed and the community, and 
those in the anti-Smart Meter group are simply refusing to believe the truths 
they are being told. They are even claiming that Smart Meters will be on all 
the time and will be used to collect covert data on US 
citizens—conspiracy-theory stuff.
 
A community open house will be held at the Sondheim on Thursday, November 16, 
from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, where Alliant representatives will present all the 
information people need to know. Mayor Malloy will be there as well. This is 
the event that community members should be encouraged to attend.
 
While I am not in favor of Smart Meters. I am in favor of truthful and 
responsible information dissemination about this topic. We need scientific 
facts, not distorted and exaggerated hype that upsets people unnecessarily.

 Which ones of these are valid arguments?
 

 Why NASA never went to the moon --> 1) We still don't have the technology. 2) 
The Van Allen Radiation Belts would have fried them. 3) The radiation that 
comes after passing through the Van Allen Belts is even more dangerous. 4) The 
vacuum of space would have made their blood boil. 5) The photos would have been 
impossible because of the film being exposed to radiation. 6) The videos and 
pictures from space taken by NASA shows a Earth that is far too small and the 
Earth is not spinning. 7) NASA admits they still don't have the technology to 
make it safe for humans to go through the Van Allen Radiation Belts, not to 
mention all the other radiation that exist beyond the Van Allen Radiation 
Belts. Hollywood went to the moon, not NASA.
