Title: May 20 Life without fear - experience it! Dear Fairfield Friends, For just a moment forget about Truth, enlightenment, spirituality, Oneness, self, no-self and all of the other things we normally talk about. Instead, focus on the single thing that grabs your attention more than all other things combined...Fear. Your first reaction to that statement might be, I'm not afraid. If that is in fact the truth for you, read no further, you have seen through the illusion that has captured the vast majority of people on the planet. If, on the other hand, you say I'm not afraid, but know deep down that you are kidding yourself about fear by calling it other things; things like, deep concern, or responsibility, or caring, or some other word you substitute for the word FEAR, if that is the case, then this just might be the time to address the real issue...your fear. You know what fear feels like. You know the things it makes you do. You dream of a time of no fear but can't imagine that ever happening. Every day you strive for things that will eliminate some of the fear; things like, more money in the bank, better health, more meaningful relationships...and on and on. In spite of all your effort to overcome fear through the acquisition of things, there is something inside you that keeps reminding you that even if you are successful in accumulating more money, getting in perfect physical condition and turning all of your relationships into perfection, that will not eliminate the fear. In fact, you know that will only amplify the fear because your potential for loss will rise in proportion to your newly acquired life style. Don't let that knowledge bother you. You're not alone. For all practical purposes, everyone is included in the scenario we just described. Is it possible to live without fear? YES! That is the state Jesus referred to when he said, Be in the world but not of the world. For a moment, as best you can, imagine the feeling of life without fear. Would you like to experience it? You had a quote from his book and there was a page with a picture of the cover and a little about his life. You said that he had written his book during his university years at Columbia which was around 1948. I knew Thaddeus and lived with him in The Yellow Submarine on Belcher Street in San Francisco when he was writing that book which was more like 1969-70.
