He's the reason I took 4 years of every psychology class he taught that the school offered, and the dreaded statistics too. He did genuinely care about each of his students. Even the ones that came in with hangovers that slept through class. I'm surprised that he didn't keep pillows in his office for them. Looked like those desks were mighty hard. You might remember him by his stature. Tall, lanky, dark wavy hair. Long face. An ear to ear smile. He looked a bit like a cross between George Harrison and Jeff Goldblum, the actor. In the years I knew him (from about 1988) he always wore black Beatle boots or black cowboy boots. They were a little trademark of his. His ex was Lynn Charleston who was part Hawaiian and taught at MSAE for some time. One of his daughters was a drummer in a local band. There is also an addendum to this. How could I forget to mention his musical prowess? Even though he was an expert at and loved heavy hair metal, fusion jazz, and the Beatles; his classical compositions would leave one breathless. As was his life, lived in the full range of all possibilities, so was his musical vocabulary - full, undaunting, and sublime. When I gave him his first set of oil paints, he took to the canvas with the same zest and fervor that was apparent in all other facets of his life. He was an accomplished individual. Needless to say, he will always be greatly appreciated and sorely missed by all whose lives he touched. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, mahdeealoo [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I've known Chip for 17 years. Multiple breaks put back together with pins and such. Rose with cracks in her pelvis and tailbone is released from hospital and walking painfully with a walker. Danny the boy with downs had a punctured lung originally and has now been released to the family. Elizabeth, Lizzy had multiple breaks in her pelvis, protruding bones, internal bleeding. That was worked on right away with a day of surgery. She is alert and awake now. Possibly/probably they will have to do more to piece her pelvis back together. They are waiting to see how the wounds seal over and also see her internal organ functions. The others in the car were bruised, banged and cut with flying glass etc. A lot of their cuts were stapled together in emergency room and they are since released. There was a girlfriend also in the car. She was banged up but released quickly. The Walker parents are both there on it and attending to the kids. They have some rooms in a nearby hotel. Their kids who have been released are with them. Sounds like the kids are sedated for pain and everyone is getting their first nights of sleep since it happened. William Hamilton was not in the wreck but went down there right away after the wreck escorting the Walker mom, Heidi. They arrived there at 7:30am that morning after the wreck. It evidently was a SUV type of wreck. The kid driving swerved at 70 mph and the vehicle started rolling. Three were ejected. Airbags evidently held some of them in. Amazingly, no fatality, no spinal injury or brain injury in the bunch. Jennifer Hamilton along with Elsie Smith and her daughter Happy have driven Heidi Walker's car down there having left Farifield this weekend. Jennifer as an RN, Will as a paramedic and Elsie with supplies of herbs, remidies, and good food will cover with this extra help. Many people sent things along with the car. Happy is a good friend of the Walker kids. The care at Vanderbuilt has been superb, top-flight. Jennifer and Will as medical people are impressed thus far. At least three of the kids are going to take a long time to re-cover. I would suspect that the Walker family, Heidi in particular will need some cash to live down there for a while. Assuming that I still meditate, his personal life has nothing to do with my spiritual development. Never has, never will. IMO, that's a very healthy attitude. All too often people set themselves up for severe disappointment when they put the spiritual teacher up on a pedestal and worship him/her as a superhuman God/Goddess. Yup. And yet, even that is an interesting an often necessary process. I think of it as dis-illusion-ment; that is, putting yourself through a bunch of shit over your *illusions* until the bubble bursts and you get over them. One of my favorite quotes on this issue of putting your teachers up on pedestals came from the Rama guy I studied with: Pedestals were invented by a very wise man who perceived the need in human consciousness to cast people down. This wise man realized that it would be impossible to cast people down unless you had put them up on something first. So he invented the pedestal, which is now employed on a regular basis. You put people on it so you can cast them down later. Indeed, he was a wise man. Ah yes, the illustrious illusion of concept. [FairfieldLife] Dining on Placenta
Late reply but better late than never: Thinking that a vast amount of humans eat the flesh and organs of other animals, while most animals eat their own placenta and amnion to regenerate themselves after birth, which could be disgusting to others, is fine. What the heck is all the fuss all about? I ate mine - all 3 of them after each delivery of my children. It was recommended by my Korean accupuncturist for a faster recovery from a grueling hard days work of delivering a child. I agree that it is the hardest thing any woman can do in her lifetime. Why not rejuvenate yourself with yourself? It was new information to me then but very common now. Here's the procedure which I recommend doing with all love and appreciation: After delivery of infant and placenta, placenta must be kept on ice and refrigerated immediately until you can cut it into one inch squares and freeze in large flat plastic bag one layer thick so it's easy to break apart once frozen. It's a bit like raw liver in texture. Recommendation for optimal value is to do it in the first 24 hours. You must tell hospital staff or who ever will be attending you during delivery that you intend to keep your placenta after delivery and/or umbilical cord blood that must be harvested immediately. The umbilical cord blood has the most benefit and some people have it sent to vitamin factories where it is made into capsules that they alone take. It is more common than you might guess. Marinate 1 square inch of frozen placenta in a glass of red (ah-hem) wine each day for an hour, squeeze out and discard tissue, (it's spongy when raw) and drink nutrient rich wine. Hey, by the end you don't care what you're drinking, well almost. It takes about a month to consume it all. My daughter did the same thing last year after her first child and did not flinch, retch, gag, or admonish me for the suggestion. I ran a marathon just a week after the delivery. Well, running to fetch a crying babe on the other end of the house felt like a marathon that first week. But I did feel great from day one and no baby blues, ever. I recommend it to all pregnant women who are open-minded and enjoy rewards of nutrition. I would agree that Tom was being selfish in wanting the placenta for himself when Kate is the one that should be consuming it. Someone educate the man! By the way, hospitals sell placentas to vitamin companies for about $175.00 each and umbilical cord blood for even more (as high as $400.00, depending on which part of the country you live in. The umbilical cord blood is used in stem cell research for regenerating tissue. You'll find it in the vitamin C that you take off your medicine cabinet shelf each morning and eat. Kidding! Seriously, it is one of the best things a new mother can do for her own recovery.
