. Tat Wale Baba - a friend of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi - has said: __ Tat Wale Baba: That which is omnipresent doesn't have to be sought. It's there already. Start to be. That which is omnipresent is not to be sought; only our awareness has to be brought to that level and that bliss is there. You don't have to seek it. Understand? Unless we get into that omnipresent bliss, satisfaction is not going to come. If it were to come, it would have come by now through so many avenues in the world. But, it has not. Therefore, that which is the Self is your own being. You don't have to look in the outside. And, it is irrespective of any religious faiths or beliefs; Christians or Mormons or Hindus. That being is the knowledge itself. Only, you have to know. All these various manifestations of happiness that we experience in the world, they also are the manifestations of the same eternal being which is our own Self. If we are aware of the Self, if we know it, fine. Otherwise, we have to be. And, therefore, it is necessary to bring our awareness deep within ourselves. As deeply as we can bring our awareness to the Self, so intensely we can inherit that which is omnipresent in our day to day life. Having known that Self we will be eternally contented; remaining in the world we will live contentment. And, it's not a matter of detaching ourselves from the world. Only, we have to know It, and having known It, then, all different manifestations in the world will be experienced as manifestations of That. We don't have to detach ourselves. It is just a matter of bringing the awareness to that area, and be, and live It. Having gained this beautiful, perfect human nervous system, if we have known that element of the Self, then we have really used this wonderful diamond-like gift, this diamond-like nervous system which is capable of giving that eternal bliss. If it is not experienced, then we have wasted that gift of diamond. We have taken upon ourselves this human nervous system, not for the sake of petty enjoyment of changing nature in this relative field of change, but to live and be that infinite bliss. And, we will have to attain that thing whether we attain it in this life, or in the next, or in the next. We just can't forego that. Therefore, with the assistance of the guru and the scriptures, better to attain it quickly. Why postpone? Tat Wale Baba's talk was followed by an opportunity for questions to be asked. As each question was asked in English Maharishi Mahesh Yogi translated to Hindi, then translated Tat Wale Baba's replies. Student: Can he tell us of his master and the tradition he follows? TWB: The Self is free from any tradition or nontradition. MMY (adding his own comment): He is from the tradition of Shukadev. Shukadev was like him, not of this world. Away from it. Student: Can he tell us what kind of meditation he does? TWB: I am established in Vedanta and that way we talk about it, and we be. There is no practice as such. Student: What do you think about Transcendental Meditation? TWB: Transcendental Consciousness is the basis of all experience. Pure Consciousness is That through which we experience. That is not a thing which one can experience. And, all this world is in a state of Pure Consciousness, and it is through That that we experience everything. Pure Consciousness, or Transcendental Consciousness is nothing that we experience. Through That we are experiencing everything. That is the basis of all experience, and experiencing. So enjoy that state. Student: Is it possible to increase one's capacity to enjoy that state? TWB: We can increase it to any great extent through meditation. And as we go deeper, That will shine forth in our life outside. So, it's possible to increase our ability to be That. And, that is through meditation. Student: Does he have any techniques that he teaches his disciples? TWB: We are sitting in the forest, and when we are sitting in the forest we have some purpose to perform, and with that we are sitting. If some seeker comes and asks, fine. We give advice. Otherwise, we don't have much time. We are in the forest, and we are in the forest for some purpose. But, if some seeker comes, fine. His doubts are cleared and removed. Student: Does he think that his way of life helps the rest of mankind or only him? TWB: All these saints meditating and established in the Self, they are the basis for all this running of the entire universe, and they are the basis of the whole thing, and not for themselves alone. Their good vibrations are influencing societies for their advancement. Student: Like a powerhouse? TWB: Like a powerhouse. The powerhouse is in Delhi and the bulb is shining here. . The Guru-Disciple Relationship In this path of the Divine as it is the case in any other path of knowledge, the importance of the Master is the greatest. If you get a good Master, it takes you quickly, if not - keep on going slowly, slowly and there is no end to it. The finding of a proper Master is all that an aspirant on the path of truth has to do - just a proper Master, not only on the path of truth, even on the path of engineering or doctory (medicine) or psychology - any of that - the coming across a right Master, a right guide and almost the whole thing is done. Because, the finding of a Master means someone who tells you like that - for the Divine is omnipresent. Omnipresent Divine, its nature blissful, so the bliss being omnipresent. How long a mind should take to get to it? Should not take long, but if you do not strike against the right Master, you keep on going round and round and round and you do not find anything. In this field when we leave here and find a proper Master, we just surrender to him, all body and mind, one-pointed in consciousness remains the individuality of the Master. No looking here or there, just at his feet obedience and obeisance. I know what a surrender to a Master is, because I have been through that. Once the surrender is done the work of spiritual quest is done. It does not need anything more to be done. You see, to meditate and transcend and get to the being and come out and with this practice bringing the mind out to the field of outer gross life is one way of achieving cosmic consciousness. The path of surrender is another way. The path of surrender starts by tuning the mind with the mind of the Master. Tuning the mind with the mind of the Master means: Whatever he likes, I begin to like. I begin to forgo my liking if he wants me to go that way, I go that way. And having gone halfway if he wants me to turn, I turn. And again he wants me to go that way, I go that way. If he wants to return I return. Nothing of my will everything His will. This is how by foregoing our own likings and disliking, adjusting our mind to the mind of the Master, that is picked up by the disciple, and that is the most important thing. If he asks to do this, you do this. If gone halfway, he wants us to stop, we stop. You don't feel in the least that 'Oh, so much effort has been put and now he wants me to stop!' - nothing like that. The way he turns, we turn, the way He likes, we like, the thing that He dislikes, we begin to dislike. This is how one begins to forego his liking and disliking and begins to tune his mind to the mind of his Master. In this line it is not the work that is important, it is the flow of His mind that is to be kept, and that is important. As the Master wants, so he moves, His likes and dislikes begin to become the likes and dislikes of the disciple. Like that he attunes his mind. When the mind of the disciple is completely tuned to the mind of the Master, then the thoughts of the Master become the thoughts of the disciple. The feelings of the Master become the feelings of the disciple and when that attunement is gained - because the mind of the Master is cosmic consciousness - the status of the mind of the disciple gets to that standard automatically. The relationship of the disciple and the Master is - two bodies and one existence, two minds and one mind. In classical Greek culture, music was recognized as one of the four mathematical sciences. In the modern world, however, music has continued to flourish as an art form, but has ceased to be a discipline through which the deepest Laws of Nature can be discerned. Maharishi has said that music is the flow of consciousness. Without a science of consciousness, no comprehensive theory of music could be formulated. Now the Science of Creative Intelligence is that science of consciousness that is needed to bring fulfilment to the theory and practice of music. The most important aspect of a musician's life is the delicacy of his own emotions. As stress is dissolved, and purity of consciousness grows through the practice of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme the heart and emotions begin to flow in very delicate impulses. That is the beginning of the melody of life, Maharishi said. The purpose of music is to touch and refine the deep core of the heart, and thereby to purify the emotions. When the musician's awareness pulsates in that most delicate value of life, he has a purifying influence on the whole society. The tenderness of emotions developed through Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation makes a musician successful and his music delightful. The musician's awareness must be so delicate as to be one with the impulses that constitute Cosmic Life, and then the thrills of music will be the song of eternity, said Maharishi. . At a press conference times ago I had a chance to ask MMY a question. Actually I ask about the very last step to enlightenment, but I was presented to him in this way: Question: How is enlightenment achieved? Is the state of enlightenment achieved by mechanical means through regular practice of Transcendental Meditation or does enlightenment become established through the grace of god? Maharishi: Both things are the same thing. - We remember a phrase: 'God helps those who help themselves.' - God helps those who help themselves. When we know how to light a lamp, we should light a lamp. And then when we light a lamp and suddenly the darkness is gone, we say: 'Oh yes, thank god.' Always we have god in our awareness. God is that fullness, fullness of all possibilities. And that is characterised in our own atman, in our own self. Self-referral consciousness is a total disclosure of, we can say, god's grace, god's will. And then we say merciful god. All these things have been throughout the ages. Now we begin to see a better world in the same old light of god, same old light of natural law, some old light of consciousness, of intelligence, infinite creative power. All these are beautiful exhortations about our own creative potential, everyone's own creative potential. God is within you, within me, within this, within that, within this. So much so - god is omnipresent. God is omnipresent. Omnipresent, omnipresent, omnipresent. That's why throughout the ages human awareness has been wanting, has been trying, has been associating with this field of intelligence, a lively field of all possibilities. In this generation we say transcendental consciousness. Because for omnipresent, for omnipresent, one has to transcend the field of change. So Transcendental Meditation brings transcendental field of consciousness, unified field of intelligence. Self-referral is the value of the omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent field of god's grace. There is some joy in saying: 'god's grace.' - 'I' am doing this. 'I' am doing this. There is some kind of not such pleasantness. Not such fabulous expanded awareness. But 'god', there is some warmth in it. Some warmth in it. There is some real upsurge of intelligence in it. It is something. It is beyond words. Something real. Something very very real. We are in the middle of the phase transition. - Maharishi strongly emphasised
the
great need to be completely self-referral during these times of very rapid
phase
transition. He said that there was quite a lot of unsettledness ('bubbling
around') in
world consciousness at present and that it is the responsibility of the whole
meditating family, who are creating a stable basis for the transition to take
place as
quickly and as smoothly as possible, not to feel shaken. This is very necessary
because on the surface the phase transition is so violent.
In order to establish order, disorder has to be shaken; and for that shaking to
remain
under control, we who are at the basis, at the level of Para, have to be Para
i.e.
unreachable by the surface turmoil. In that integrated state, the fast moving
chaos
and change will pass away in a steady manner. So we have to be very steady.
Maharishi referred to the 'Sahasra Ati Sri Rudra Abhivishek' yagya at present
being
performed ... and indicated that this was creating an enormous shaking around
in
world consciousness. Rudra corresponds to the dynamism value in nature (as
'RRR'
in Rig-Veda) and this dynamism is what is being released by the yagya and
causing
the shaking at all levels of creation. When the eight prakritis (the basic
building
blocks of creation) are shaken, Apara (i.e. relativity) is getting sorted out
to come
into coherence with Para (i.e. absolute). The yagya involves 11 times 11 times
11
pundits ...
We have to be careful not to get upset by little or big things. If we loose our
basis,
our dignity, the phase transition will take much longer. Don't give importance
to
things which may upset us, Maharishi said. This is a very precious time for the
world. Everything depends on how our awareness is; just don't let it be shaken.
Our
awareness is the basis of all these transformations. More than ever before we
are
ourselves. We are at the basis of the power of Rudra. Time demands we remain
completely ourselves. It is a very tender, delicate time for us we should
not
become angry, indifferent, or sad, we should just be like an ocean.
The evolutionary power is waking up. We shake it, then leave it; then after
some
time shake it again. Each time a new level of purity, awakening is added ... It
is the
awakening of both values: Para and Apara, says Maharishi.

Neglect of his guru's teachings. For one who has achieved human birth, what is the most desirable objective? He who worships the Lord with devotion. Who profits from his life? The humble man. Who is a loser? He who is proud. What is the most difficult task for a man? To keep his mind under constant control. Who protects an aspirant? His guru. Who is the teacher of this world? The Lord. How does one attain wisdom? By the grace of the Lord. How is one liberated? Through devotion to the Lord. Who is the Lord? He who leads us out of ignorance. What is ignorance? The obstacle to the unfoldment of the Divine which is within us. What is the ultimate Reality? Brahman. What is unreal? That which disappears when knowledge awakens. How long has ignorance existed? From a time without beginning. What is unavoidable? The death of the body. Whom should we worship? An incarnation of God.
